It says I have 16 of them waiting to be read but I don't.

Go into messages, check the box to the left of the all the messages you don't want and use the drop down on Actions and select "Delete."

Oh wait - I got it now. You and I have the same problem. Mine says I have a bookmark thread, and I have the little "1" bubble, but when I go in there, there is nothing.
I have learned to ignore it. I guess the board is a little buggy.

I logged out and logged back in and it disappeared. IDK if that is what did it or not, but it is gone now.

First, try clicking on the bubble instead of on the word "messages". If that doesn't work, do what beer did (log out, then log back in). You can also try clearing your caches if that doesn't work.

thyme4change, here's something else you can try: Go to your Profile, click on Edit Profile, then on the Notifications tab. Go to the bottom of that page and click on Save Notifications Settings. I found that trick on the Support boards. It's worth a try.

There was a minor hiccup/glitch/Cloudflare last night. There were a few people who had the message bubble but no messages (including Virgil - he mentioned in on his "Wife Cheating" thread in EE today.)

I had a "1" in a bubble that wouldn't go away, and when I clicked on it (the bubble), it finally disappeared. Thx!

I was wondering what was going on! I had 53 likes on one post. Nobody ever likes anything I say that much. Ever. **sniff**
But I'll not try to fix it because it makes me feel all profound and stuff.

Well, I'm glad it worked, but I'm sorry your bubble has deserted you, thyme. Maybe it'll come back. It's probably just stepped out for a walk in the rain.

I can send you a bubble if you're feeling deserted, Thyme,
