I'm very excited. I've been working on obtaining the ICD-10 diagnosis code set certification, and I just passed the test online. I took the course through the A.A.P.C. ( American Academy of Professional Coders ) directly, and so had fewer questions to answer, but it was still a lot of modules to watch and questions to answer. I am so happy. Of course, I've obtained it right before I am retiring from my current employer. It looks like they have successfully hired some great, new coders who want to work fulltime + overtime, so they probably won't need me to stay on part-time after June 30th. But, I just found a possible part-time employer up by where DH & I will be moving to after our current tenant moves out, so that is good news. I'll be submitting my resume' there tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Congrats. Do you know they just changed the date for the switch over to ICD-10 to Oct, 2015. Another delay.

Great news! Congratulations on the pass, and good luck with the part-time employment. Sounds like everything is going to work out perfectly!

Taking the test while the info is fresh sounds like an excellent idea to me. With the way they are screwing around with the compliance date they may change there mind once again and make it tomorrow. From my end I don't care what the codes are or how to code, we are a software vendor, I just want to know when we have to have our release out to our clients.

Congratulations! That's a lot to learn. ( I didn't have to write the code down in a previous job. Someone else coded & I put the billing information into the computer.) It was a great summer job back when I was still in school. I even got plenty of overtime!
