The big expenses are what keep DH & I awake at night. The night before we closed on our first house, I don't think either of us slept a wink! On the positive side, we never rush into big financial decisions. Take your time, & make the best decision you can with the information you have.

I tend to make decisions immediately. It's second-guessing that keeps me up all night:)

There were years when I would fret endlessly over investment decisions. Had I made good decisions? Should I sell this and buy that? I have stopped fretting over investments. I realize that I will only know in hindsight what the optimal moves would have been. Instead, I focus on the things I can control, I have made a reasonable allocation plan, and what happens happens. I'm done fretting about that. I have moved on and am now fretting over other things!

Worrying is just a waste of time and energy... so I refuse to do it anymore. Seriously.

I don't worry about personal finances at all. I'm a small business owner - those pressures are much greater to me. I know that the families of several other people are dependent upon me.

I am having major money anxiety lately. Our financial house is usually in ok enough order, that I don't stress. However recently we had a death in the family and that situation is not in order. There are just too many balls in the air right now and I would like everything to settle so it can be dealt with. The unknown really bothers me. I worry about what will happen if something someone else was supposed to do doesn't happen or if some form was filled out wrong.
Like you, I would love to fast forward 2 months. Hopefully by then, I would at least know how things were going to turn out.

All the freakin time!
I constantly worry are we doing enough, have I planned right, will I be eating cat food at 90, will I be a burden to my kid and on and on.
I have to breathe and tell myself I am only 27 and I am on the right track. Getting 63 years ahead of myself is doing me no good.
It's good to plan, but lying awake at night worrying about that far ahead in life is not really productive. All I can do is plan and hope by the time I reach that age I have planned correctly!

No, in general I don't worry about money, we're doing fine. I do worry about the 25 yo DS still at home with no job though. I have a question. Do those of you who worry, especially young, have good role models? I guess I never worried too much because my parents and in-laws made it work even though they were definitely blue collar to start. But I saw that good choices could promote a successful future.

I stopped worrying about it after I found YM. I very soon realized that I'll never do anything right or will never have enough. So, I just gave up and now live in happy ignorance

I have and I haven't. My parents always made it work but they've made some big mistakes. My paternal grandmother is awesome with money.
My maternal grandmother was really sheltered and when my grandfather died she became a really big burden on my mother who is an only child. My biggest "fear" is becoming a burden to my own child and I want to do everything in my power to prevent that.
I am also married to a spender. He's getting better, but I get anxious about all the things the money COULD be going to. We just had a baby so there are new expenses that have had to be factored in and we are still working on a budget that makes us both reasonably happy or at least comfortably miserable.
So I am anxious at times because I wonder how we are going to keep all the balls in the air and come out the other side just fine.
Which is why I remind myself that I am 27 years old and I have a long ways to go before I am an old lady eat cat food.

Any anxiety that I feel comes more from the fact that the US economy is so unstable and that some of the clowns in Washington just want to keep spending.

I have some anxiety because of the government and tax situation. Also nearly had a heart attack the other day when I added up our medical expenses for February. Including premiums it came out to 2.7k.

On rare occasions, yes. For the most part I feel pretty good about my finances. Sure, they could always be "better" but for the most part, we do ok.

Basically, I just am not a worrying person. This came from my parents along with good financial role models. "The Power of Positive Thinking", the idea that that things will all work out. A few good choices early on help, no student debt, both of us with college degrees, the ability to (almost) live on one salary if needed, no credit card debt and save as much as (comfortably) possible. We've made some bad investment decisions along the way, who hasn't. But I never doubted that we would be OK and have a nice retirement. As far as the government and the economy, I've been hearing the same complaints for 40 years.

Yes, I wake up at night sometimes worrying about money, and I sometimes have to make a conscious effort to stop myself from thinking about it.
I don't worry about my investments, oddly enough. During & after the stock market crash, I was totally calm about it, because i knew I had made the best decisions I could regarding asset allocation, and that second-guessing myself in at atmosphere of panic was unlikely to improve my situation. So I sat tight, which turned out to be a good move.
But having been young and poor, I have a real fear of being old and poor. Even though I have figured out what I think is a good financial balance of saving and also enjoying life today, I do sometimes think I should be saving more. One thing that helps when I find myself fretting is to write in my journal...just getting my fears and thoughts down on paper allows me to let go of them.

I grew up very poor (electricity turned off, ran out of oil in the dead of winter poor). Although my husband and I make a very good living and we live well below our means, I have a constant fear of not having enough. I am not sure if it is something I will ever overcome.

No, I don't worry about money much anymore. I used to, though not to the point of not being able to sleep or wake up at night.

I was never worried about money when we first got married because we didn't have have that much. Now that we have some I worry about it a lot. DW is not worried at all. It makes me feel better when DW reminds me "it's not our money, we just borrowed it from HIM"

I seem to be a worrier by nature. Although I don't worry about finances as much as I used to, it is always an issue in the back of my mind, especially when we are pondering discretionary spending. I find myself asking, "Will I wish I hadn't spent this money when I'm really old and need it to live on or pay medical bills?"
OTOH, I do sometimes have sleepless nights worrying about my grandkids......

I'm a natural worrier, but I don't lose sleep over money. I worry about things that I have less control over, so being in good financial shape helps my anxiety levels.

My sleepless nights usually are a result of my evening nap . I used to get uptight about finances but realized you can't make debt go away any faster by worrying about it. It has helped me immensely to have money (for the first time ever) in an emergency fund and for nonmonthly recurring things like HOA dues, clothes, auto maintenance, etc. I wish it was more, but I've paid off a lot of debt over the last couple of years and still have 2 kids I still pay some expenses for. I'm working on paying off my mortgage before retirement (don't hate on me but I need to have it paid off before retirement!).
