Thanks to everyone who joined me for tracking spending in April. I'm going to do the same for May.
May 1--$5 for the retirement gift for our administrative assistant $2 LOST in the vending machine at work (didn't give me my bag of chips) $4.70 for Chick Fil A on campus $5.40 for shampoo and conditioner $2.95 for Chinese takeout (egg drop soup and crab rangoon)

I'd love to join, but we're buying one house, selling another, and may be moving this month so if I kept track and posted youall'd have to put me in a white jacket.

Well, you can choose what you want to track on this thread. There really aren't any rules except be honest about what you choose to track. I track only my discretionary spending. I don't track my bills that are a set amount each month. Check out the April Spending Tracking thread to get an idea of what others tracked.

I'll track personal discretionary spending and any household spending not related to the move or fixed/recurring expenses.

May 1 Big City spending: $1,600 at the dentist (put it on my zero interest Care Credit account) $101 Sam's Club: Cleaning supplies, canned goods, beverages, allergy pills $125 Clothing store for work separates $51 Fuel: Used my .40/gal value card discount
Not a very SS way to begin the month. Granted, I used a $50 clothing coupon....

We learned a lot about our spending a couple of months ago. I knew we were fine with the auto draft things, but it was the semi discretionary spending we wanted to track. Surprise! we are doing fine on a monthly basis without touching our investments. That includes not taking any dividends or interest from them too.
