Sorry to hear about your foot. The best thing is to listen to the doctor and stay off of it. Are there any neighbor kids you can hire to work in your garden for a few weeks?
Is there an insert you can put in your other shoe so they are even?

So sorry to hear this, Pat! You have my sympathies. 3 years ago I fell on a hiking trail and broke my tibia in two places and my fibula in one - I basically destroyed the structure of my lower leg. I was 3 days in the acute hospital, another 11 days in a rehab hospital, and 8 weeks at home in a wheelchair. Plus another 2 months in a walking boot and 3 months of physical therapy. NOT FUN. The only advice (as someone who's been there) I can give you is: time to swallow whatever pride you might have and ask for or pay for some help. How much longer will hubby be home? Can you hire a neighbor or local helper service? Do you have any siblings/nieces/nephews who might be willing to come stay with you for a few weeks? Any college kids looking for extra work? I know it sucks. So sorry! and ETA: YES a thousand times to listening to the doctor and staying off it. It will NEVER heal fully or correctly if you don't

Sorry To hear this Pat.
I agree that you should stay off your foot and hire some help, if at all possible.

Buy yourself a pair of clogs which are the same height as the boot. It will help alleviate some of the back pain from walking with the boot.
Feel better soon.

Sheesh, Pat! I'm sorry, hon. That sounds miserable. I hope it heals quickly for you.

So sorry, Pat!
Are you able to manage with DD until you've healed up again?

Unless Pat is used to walking in clogs, she's likely to fracture her other ankle.
That footwear is horrible !
Even if Pat walks with a limp (having one leg slightly longer with the boot) it's better than risking wearing clogs.

Oh No! You are right, probably the ONLY way to make you slow down for a few days Since you will now have time for lots of writing, you will have to tell us each day how well you follow doctors orders! I hope you find a way to manage the household without behaving badly towards your foot!

Sometimes Pat, we reach an age in life that we no longer can do what we used to be able to accomplish. None of us like to admit that at times we've turned into our parents, i.e. don't like driving at night or afraid of falling, but truth is, we have turned into them and will continue to want to do things we did in the past.
