I just got an invite by mail. It's VIP airport service, concierge service, excellent rewards program etc etc etc and $245 annual fee. Oh did I mention the card itself is made of stainless steel? Can I can I please? It comes in a huge black envelope so it definitely got my attention.

from Wikipedia: "In 2012 Time magazine named the Black Card as one of the 5 credit cards you do not want due to the $495 annual fee and little extra benefits for the cost.[2] White, Martha C. (November 7, 2012). "5 Credit Cards You Don’t Want In Your Wallet". Time Magazine. Retrieved 2 March 2014"
$245.00 is less than half of the price mentioned in Wikipedia, so maybe it's now a better deal

Does it come with airline lounge access? (Beware if it's PriorityPass Select; PP used to be a great deal but they've sharply reduced the number of available lounges.)
If you fly a lot, lounge access is a great sanity saver.

I was joking. That fee is ridiculous. And they try to lure you in with stainless steel? Why? So my wallet feels heavier?

If you fly a lot, concierge service could be worth it.
A couple years ago, I was on a flight out to Seattle via Detroit and we got stuck in Detroit due to rolling thunderstorms. Flight was supposed to leave around 9 pm, but after waiting on the plane for an hour for the storm to pass, they let the passengers off. Gate was utterly clueless as to when (or if) the flight was going to go out that night.
A woman adjacent to me called AmEx concierge service and they told her that the flight would be leaving around midnight. Damned if they weren't right! The flight started reboarding around 11:30 and by midnight we were waiting in line to depart.
I wanna know how AmEx knew this before the gate attendants!

I don't have the offer but you are right, I'm pretty sure it WAS $495. I was thinking 500!
