What I've done so far this week: 1. took recycling to depot 2. took out 3 bags of garbage 3. cleaned the fridge door out and washed it down 4. ripped out my crochet project and am reworking it (started out with 35 stitches and ended with 38 so I ripped it out to the 35 stitch row). 5. cleaned two litter pans 3 times so far this week, ( I usually do it every day so I have 4 more times). 6. Need to do laundry. Still have a basket to put away and one to wash, dry, fold, and put away.
I haven't started on the tubs yet. That will be next week, hopefully.

5 by Friday: 1. Finish the baby blanket done Monday night2. Straighten my office [ partially done]3. Change out my bedding done Thursday night4. Laundry (wash, dry, fold and put away or hang up*) done Friday night5. Make two healthy meals with plenty of leftovers [ made one healthy meal with plenty of leftovers]
* This is my weak point. No problem washing and drying my laundry. Folding and putting it away or hanging it up sometimes does not get done, and then I'm digging through a basket of clean, wrinkled clothes to find some underwear. And I have to tumble some of my clothes to get the wrinkles out before I can fold or hang them. How ridiculous is that?! It's the same with the dishwasher. No problem running it, but I go to great lengths to avoid emptying it. Since it's just me, running the dishwasher is a once-a-week event. "They" say that it takes 21 days of doing something consistently for it to become a habit. I'm working on a new habit now. My bedroom is at the opposite end of the house from my laundry room. I have a nice wicker 3-compartment laundry basket in the laundry room. Instead of piling up my dirty laundry on my closet floor, starting today I am taking my dirty clothes to the laundry room and putting them in the wicker basket. ETA: I get three full credits and two partial credits. I hope to be doing the other two half chores this weekend. So there you have it: my progress report for week 1. Three credits plus two half credits. For my 5-by-the-weekend: 1. Finish the two half-done items above: finish my office and make one healthy meal with lots of leftovers. 2. Start prep work on repainting a bedroom. 3. Spend two hours gardening. 4. More freelance work. 5. Pay bills and do other finance-related stuff. My 21-day habit changing challenge is going well so far.

For my 5-by-the-weekend (revised):
1. Finish the two half-done items above: straightening my office and make one healthy meal with lots of leftovers. 2. Prep and repaint area beneath microwave. 3. Begin half-marathon training with 4-mile walk. 4. More freelance work. 5. Pay bills and do other finance-related stuff. Yay! (Sort of).
I made two healthy meals with lots of leftovers, in addition to the one I made last week. I'm swimming in leftovers and just cleaned a messy kitchen.

5 by Friday: 1. clean litter pans every day, 10 times. 2. laundry: wash, dry, fold, and put away. 3. plan meals for week: Monday-pizza, Tuesday-cheesy potato bake with bacon, Wednesday-soup and sandwich, Thursday-frozen brussel sprouts with chicken and mashed potatoes, Friday-spaghetti. 4. wash meat drawer out in fridge. 5. run shop vac in other room and stack all tubs behind the couch.
I have been able to get chicken legs from the deli for a dollar for leg and thigh. I buy frozen veggies and steam them and add a piece of chicken to them for my meals. I am trying to cut down on pizza, hoagies and BK/McD food. Since I only have a microwave to cook with, frozen dinners are my mainstay. I am trying to get away from them and eating more veggies, even if they are frozen.

Update:
1. Clean off that counter top. (You know the one; it's where all the mail and kiddos' school papers accumulate and multiply.) 2. Clean/dust/vacuum the living/dining room. *Started it at least. 3. Finish at least one of my knitting projects. 4. Catch up on filing paperwork. 5. Wash towels.
Well, I did not finish my list last week.
Here is my new one:
1. Finish cleaning/dusting/vacuuming the living/dining room. 2. Catch up on filing paperwork. 3. Make a batch of laundry soap. 4. Clean/organize laundry room. 5. Start planting garden.
Have a great week!

5 by Friday
1. Take pup to the vet 2. Laundry washed, dried, put away 3. Finish mini-blanket for the new baby's big sister (basically a matching blanket for her baby doll) 4. Return lighting fixtures 5. Make August hotel reservations
Generally, I'm much more productive on the weekends than on the weekdays. To come up with this list, I had to put on two things that I actually did this morning that I hadn't even planned to do. I had a fleeting thought that the pup might be due for her really-expensive-every-25-day injection (today was day 26, and I'd forgotten to make the appointment when I was there last time, which I usually do) and before I went to work I made hotel reservations for my next trip.
On the other hand, things ARE getting done, so why not put them on the list just in time to cross them off?
I need to plan in advance for things to do by a week from Friday, so I can get most of them done on the weekend.

Picked up more paint so I can finish the hallway this week and scheduled the electrician to come out on Friday to install 3 more lights. I'm happy that will be done and think the house is actually looking pretty good! I am debating whether to steam clean now or on Friday since he's going to be making a mess in the living room and perhaps the master bedroom as well during install. I'll at least work on the office carpets since that room is "done" until I start priming the walls for new paint. It's totally okay if you need to switch your list to 6 by Sunday or any other day/number you need! The entire goal is to motivate yourself to get projects done, not meet any arbitrary deadline!

Revised list: 10 by Friday
- prepare Semester 2 Business Excel Sheets (Tues)
- prepare Semester 2 Debating Excel Sheets (Wed)
- fill in Business Excel Sheets (Wed)
- fill in Debating Excel Sheets (Wed)
- mark 2 last second-year papers (Wed) - pay podiatrist (Wed)
- to to pharmacy and ATM (Thurs)
- work out last oral marks and put them in Excel sheets (Thurs) - pack for UK (Thurs) - drop off DD's bunny (Thurs) Plus keep up with laundry.
Today was a really productive day!
I'm getting a set of finals Thurs afternoon but I've taken them off my list because I have too many other things to do Thurs evening before we leave on Fri. Either I'll take them with me (even though I don't like doing that) or they'll wait till we get back.

Finally got the snow fencing done! I do have more garden boxes but since little brat dog was only getting into one of them to dig up and kill my plants that's the one I was worried about. Update time 1. Add snow fencing to the raised garden beds2. Steam clean carpets in the living room, office and my bedroom 3. Wash with TSP, prime and paint the hallway4. Finish painting the tile in the living room 5. Finish and hang canvas print and mirror in the living room
Tile is taking longer than I expected. The top part needs another layer of poly and the bottom needs another layer of white paint then poly. Keeping the dogs away is the hardest part! The plan is to steam clean in the office and bedroom tonight, then work on the tile. If I can finish the tile Thursday night I'll be very happy. New lights go up on Friday so I'll need to steam clean the living room after that and hopefully it won't be too big of a mess in my room...

Re-Revised list: 10 by Friday: DONE!
- prepare Semester 2 Business Excel Sheets (Tues) - prepare Semester 2 Debating Excel Sheets (Wed) - fill in Business Excel Sheets (Wed) - fill in Debating Excel Sheets (Wed) - mark 2 last second-year papers (Wed) - pay podiatrist (Wed) - to to pharmacy and ATM (Thurs) - work out last oral marks and put them in Excel sheets (Thurs) - drop off DD's bunny (Thurs) - mark Thursday's final exams (Thurs)
Now all I need to do is finish the laundry and pack (which takes me 15-20 min). I still have tomorrow morning too.
No list for next week because we're going to visit DH's family for a few days.

Slowly getting the list done! 1. Add snow fencing to the raised garden beds2. Steam clean carpets in the living room, office and my bedroom 3. Wash with TSP, prime and paint the hallway 4. Finish painting the tile in the living room 5. Finish and hang canvas print and mirror in the living roomJust more steam cleaning today and putting away supplies in the garage. It's beautiful outside so I'll be throwing open the windows to get the fresh air flowing! If I have time this evening I'd like to touch up the ceiling paint in a few rooms but for now I'll focus on finishing this list How are your lists coming along?

So for 5 by next Friday:
1. Walk 4 miles outdoors. 2. Return the wrong thing I bought at Lowe's and buy the right thing. 3. Install wire shelving in the new closet. 4. Finish drywall repairs in the kitchen and repaint the whole wall. 5. Get the home improvement tools and items that are strewn about back in place in the garage.
That last one will be a chore because I will have to do some cleaning and organizing in the garage first.
ETA: And it turned out that returning the wrong thing and buying the right thing was quite a chore. I made three trips to Lowe's today to return and buy, return and buy, return and buy. With all those trips, I also stopped off at the grocery store to get wine, which I totally deserved. Heads up to anyone who's installing Rubbermaid wire shelving: they have different styles and you are limited in your options combining the FastTrack components with the HomeFree components. Ask me how I know.

We got back from the UK this evening. I've unpacked and finished DH's and my laundry.
Still no list for this Fri but I'll be back with one for the following week.

Good news: the cardiologist said everything is completely normal! The slight problem I had 15 years ago is completely gone! Thanks friends for making me go back to him! ETA: Unfortunately, the news from the (new) dentist wasn't as good. That's going to be a long and expensive process. I've decided I'm going to put "make a PITA doctor appt" on my "5 by Friday" list, either every week or every other week, I'm not sure yet. I only have a few left now that I've seen the cardiologist and the dentist, but I've been putting them off for months (not years though!)

So for this week's 5 by Friday (May 2):
1. Call a charitable organization to come get the big hutch in the garage. That is the first hurdle to getting my garage organized. 2. Spread mulch, plant annuals, kill weeds, plant grass seed. 3. Freelance work this weekend. 4. Work on (as opposed to finish) the kitchen drywall repairs and painting. 5. Mow the lawn.
All this seems doable.
I have some fun lined up too. Going to see a movie (The Grand Budapest Hotel) tonight. Has anyone seen it?

Starting to think about next week's list now that I'm home again (although a week away was most needed and appreciated!)
1. Sand the outdoor tables so they can be painted 2. Get rid of the loveseat - anyway, anyhow I can 3. Take at least 1 banker's box from the garage and scan/recycle/shred the contents 4. Scan and organize at least 1 box of photos from the living room 5. Empty out 1 shelf of the pantry for clean out

I like some of his movies (Royal Tennenbaums, for one) but hated others (Life Aquatic...). But I think this one is liked by most everyone weather or not they fans of his.

1. Take care of a speeding ticket. <-- completely unintentional, I don't normally speed at all, so yes, I'm mad they got me in a speed trap area. 2. Catch up on laundry. 3. Get out 24 month clothes for DS2. 4. Pay my mom's bills. 5. Exercise at least once (a little is better than nothing).
