Yes and no. Owning a business is weird. My to do list seems to grow faster than I cross things off, but there's also a surprising amount of semi down time. I'd say I spend at least 45 minutes of every hour I'm awake thinking about or doing something business related.
Today is my day off, which means I'll only spend 4 hours at the store, even though the store is closed.

World peace. Seriously, tho...I guess I don't know. Used to be the "white picket fence" dream, but now that I know that's a crock, I guess I don't have any long-range dreams. There are a couple of places I would like to visit before I die, but that's about as far-reaching as it gets. Why do you think it's a crock? I don't think wanting be married, having 2-3 kids and a house is THAT outside of the relm of possibility for most people. Several posters are living the dream right now. I'll list a few. Swamp Darkhonor/Saun of the Toys Miss T Goldenrule Girl Rainyday Archiethedragon Chocolatecheesecakelover. The list goes on Though I understand if you feel the dream might be out of reach for you personally. I often feel that way.

I should have said it's a "crock for me". Certainly, it isn't so for everyone.

that's pretty deep. I'm not much on introspection. I just kind of exist. Come on Swamp, no topic is too deep for the intellegent and talented people of this message board.

It will happen for you, Phoenix. Just be patient. Not the moon thing....the relationship thing.

I think it gets pretty cold up there. I should probably know, being a physicist and all, but I think you blow up before you freeze to death in vaccume.

I surely do wish you the best. I think freezing to death would be more peaceful than blowing up, but either kinda sucks. Maybe you should just stay here.

I'm pretty sure you get really cold, then burn up in a ball of fire before you get to the vacuum. I could be wrong. I may have to attempt that flight with you the way my life is going

LOL I was going to post the same thing. I'm doing green chicken enchiladas tonight. I found my old cookbook from San Antonio that has my fave recipe for it. Fingers crossed that I can find tomatillos at the local store. I made the same thing. No tomatillos, but we picked a lot of the green tomatoes before the first frost and I made/canned a bunch of green salsa with them. Close enough for me!

My hope for me...
That I get a lot of travel in before I get cancer (seems like everyone I work with gets cancer). That I get to retire early, sometime next decade. That I find someone worth putting up with their crap, who is happy putting up with mine.
For the kiddo...
That he continues to grow and surprise people. That he finds his place in the world, doing something that makes him happy and allows him to be independent and not have to worry about money. That he finds someone willing to put up with his crap, and that he doesn't have any children until he is in a position to support them, if he decides he wants a family.

I don't know. I used to be much more of a deep thinker. But, now I just live for the day and I really don't think beyond that. What is going to be will be. I just get up every day and try to do the best I can for my family and myself. Try to get some work done and also try to enjoy the moment. I used to think that it was important to ponder the Big Questions and think deeply on the great questions of our time. Now, I really believe that life is about the small things. Like baking cookies for your kids and stuff like that. I HOPE that my children will grow up to have happy lives with spouses and children of their own. And that they will have happy marriages, etc. I hope they find their way and live the lives they want to live and can take time to relax and enjoy as well.

I'm hoping my DS does NOT marry his latest girlfriend. This is the ONLY one I haven't liked since the one he dated in college. Everyone else has been a keeper but he was an idiot and lost them to other men. Other than that, it's all good. DD is scared she won't get all As this term but that really isn't my issue or concern and I need to stop letting her make it mine. We are getting ready for Florida this weekend, AZ then end of the month and Italy the end of May. We want to live long enough to travel our bucket list and leave nothing to our children! I am finally losing weight thanks to drugs! That's sounds bad but its all good.

I second Shooby's comments and add that I'd like my kids to live in a world without greed, selfishness, evil, religious or political fanaticism, judgement, violence, war, bullies, and super-strain viruses and bacteria. Phoenix, you didn't say anything about our hopes and dreams having to be realistic.

I hope my daughters find joy and fulfillment in their lives. I hope I'm not a burden to them in my old age. I hope the Republican party splits so the radical Christian element can be trivialized and they can get back to actually focusing on the economy before we give the whole thing to the Chinese with a nice bow on it. I hope we close the border before we get so flooded with illegal immigrants that we become a third world economy with a massive underclass and slums everywhere while the small percentage at the top lives in gated compounds. I hope I'm one of the people in the gated compounds if we go that route. I hope there's life on Titan. I usually dream about sex, flying, or weird insecurities like being in public in an embarrassing situation or losing the ability to talk. You really have a LOT of time on your hands, don't you? I don't think it is time...

Even though I'm hijacking my own thread, to settle the matter, here's a article from NASA's website about the biological effects on the unprotected human body being exposed to space. imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/ask_astro/answers/970603.htmlApparently, you do not explode and your blood does not boil. And you don't even really freeze that fast, since the body doesn't lose heat that quickly. It looks like the thing that gets you is aspixiation. You would likely lose consciousness within 10-15 seconds from lack of oxygen, and start dying after 1-2 minutes. An interesting side note that I found surprising, if you're ever spaced, you're actually better off NOT holding your breath. Holding your breath would cause injury to your lungs. I was under the impression that you blew up because I remember in high school science class blowing up a marshmellow in a vaccume chamber, and I know that as pressure drops the boiling point of a liquid decreases (which is where I got the bioling blood). But apparently your skin prevents both of those effects. Though the exact long term effects are not known, since obviously they've never spaced anyone to find out.

At least it was not one of the infamous top 10 lists that people get so upset about.

Yes. I'm not sure exactly off hand what the elevation is, but past a certain point the oxygen content in the air can no longer support life. If you were start at the ground and be pushed upwards, eventually you'd suffocate, likely before anything else. The only real reason you would "burn up" if you were traveling really fast. If you're traveling really fast through space and hit the earth's atmoshphere, it might as well be concrete. It's the friction that creates the heat.

But, just a note that if you can't find tomatillos you can generally find good tomatillo salsa. Even Wal-Mart carries a good one here. That's what I use anyway for recipes calling for tomatillos and I can't find them. Sorry for the hi-jack.

Actually, you should carry some of that with you at all times in case you accidentally step on an ejector plate. ;-)
