Ummm - she's obsese?? And needs to exercise more?? She's a body-builder. She looks pretty healthy (and fit) to me.
I wonder what the nurse who told her this looks like.

Stupid BMI
Stupider nurse who doesn't understand why it's only a guideline! but not to put too fine a point to it, I don't believe Ms. Albrecht when she claims that she was made to feel as though she was over eating and "felt a knock in her self confidence" either. This woman , rightfully too IMO, dies not look like she suffers from a lack of self esteem. Why does she need to play a victim? She should have stuck with showing the world a strong self-confident woman who stands up to this total blind, depending on numbers only, "stupidity" of the nurse! Very puzzling behavior...

Probably more important for her to get off the roids.

I don't want to sound mean, but that woman looked pretty fat to me.
KIDDING!!!!
No, the nurse is obviously one of those people who don't use her brains or common sense at work. But then again, to be fair, maybe the woman was wearing baggy clothes?
I know some big-chested women, who are very thin, but when they wear baggy sweatshirts, they look kind of chunky.

So, then tell Michelle that BMI guidelines don't fit everyone as well. I think I will worry about my own country before I worry about the UK.

I think that the bmi chart is a good starting point, for people taking charge of their weight. For non-body builders it still isn't perfect, but its not that far off from.having someone do the arm fat test on you either.

leave the nurse alone, she's just reading from her script that automatically spits out of the computer
you can expect more of this w/ Obama Care

How is obamacare at fault for obesity? Pretty sure that's been a problem for a while now..

This woman is in the UK.
No, she's not obese, though her legs are huge!
The thing about bodybuilders is that they don't look like that all the time. They have the muscles but they cut a lot of weight right before a competition (I know someone who does bodybuilding competitions). Her diet is super restrictive in the weeks before a competition (like chicken and broccoli and that's it) and her water intake also drops dramatically because you want the muscles to show. So I guess you could say that they might be 10-15 pounds "overweight" before a competition.

Yeah, those kinds of metrics are meant for "normal" people, not for people who do not fall within the range of normal. Body mass is a function of body volume and body density. Muscle is much more dense than fat, so heavily muscled people are much more dense than most people per cubic foot of body volume. Apparently this woman had such a high body density that it more than compensated for her low body volume.
Had the same thing happen to me years ago. Did a skin fold test. Test results indicated I was 25 pounds over wieght. Funny thing was I was a 150 pound, 5' 10", 27" waist, bicycle racer, with a resting pulse rate of about 51, who was fit enough to ride more than 100 miles in less than four hours. And who would eat a snack of a dozen powdered sugar donuts and Diet Coke on Sunday afternoon, after a race. I really don't think I was over weight.

I'm obese too. At 5'8" and 205 lbs on a small frame I have had health care professionals say the same thing. While I don't look anything like her, I have about 8% body fat, so I choose to ignore what they say. Maybe I should complain loudly so I can get some media attention too.

And on the other side of it, we had a nurse tell us that DD was under-weight and we needed to start giving her supplemental shakes because her BMI was too low. The doc came in and said it was unnecessary, that DD is just a little skinny kid but healthy and we don't need to do anything different. So you can't be overweight. But you can't be skinny either. We'll just draw some arbitrary line in the sand and pretend that all people have to fall right on it or we will make comments either way.

This bodybuilder is ugly! Look at her thighs...and arms...is it self-esteem or what? Why would anyone do this to themselves?
I think if she wore some lose clothes - nurse could mistake her for a...tank!

She's a body-builder and weight-lifter. That's not fat - it's muscle mass.
There's a one-letter difference between the words "fit" and "fat".

Fit means proportional and aesthetically pleasing to look at. Not horrifying gorilla that all you can think of looking at 'if she hugs me my brains will come out like a paste from the tube'.

And who would eat a snack of a dozen powdered sugar donuts and Diet Coke on Sunday afternoon, after a race. I really don't think I was over weight. I hovered round 125/130 at 5'10 and started gaining weight without changing food or exercise. So I asked my doctor what could be going on for me gaining 10lbs in a month or two. She started going off that if I try to lose weight to get back to the weight I had healthily maintained since I stopped growing in high school that she'd sent me in for a psych evaluation for anorexia! I got switched to her when my old doctor left and she practically had me in tears ignoring my actual problem. So it's odd that one doctor wants you to cut weight down to a weight my other doctor said she'd submit me for being anorexic. Just more proof that BMI doesn't mean everything.

Disagree with you. BMI should be treated as a guidance. You don't have to treat it as if it was a dogma. Be smart and if it says your BMI out of place but you like the way you look - nevermind it. But if you feel you need those lbs to be gone...you know what I mean!

When I was competitively swimming in college, I was considered overweight per my BMI at 5'4" and 150 pounds.

I found this snippet at the end of the article pretty much debunks the entire BMI thing:
Body Mass Index is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by their height in metres squared.
The measurement was devised by Belgian mathematician Adolphe Quetelet while studying astronomy in 19th century France.
The student was inspired by stargazers who used probability to make their measurements as accurate as possible and decided to apply the same techniques to human features.
However, it wasn’t until the 1970s that researchers re-visited and supported his ‘Quetelet Index’ formula.
It's crazy to me that some dude from 19th century France should be dictating what weight the "average" person should be. I would hazard to guess, based on strictly unscientific methods of observation, that people from 19th century France are hardly representative of people from around the world in 2014.
I hate BMI, because I've always been athletic and actively pursued sports so I have more muscle mass than the average female. Granted, now I carry around more fat than I would like, but I just had a baby and back surgery, so I'm giving myself a break. However, even at my fittest I was in the 'overweight' category. Nowadays I would be classified as 'obese'. Never mind the fact I just ran 7 miles, all in the sub-12 minute mile range (granted, not that fast, but I've just been back running for a month now) on Saturday.

2 people can be the exact some weight and height yet have completely different bodies that are completely different sizes and at completely different fitness levels.
Who cares what the scale says? I just lost a pants size, but the scale didn't budge an ounce. I'll take that over seeing a number change.

I have very little understanding for people who need to be told how they look. those needy 'do I look fat'...and she is 80lb with boots! And her ass is non-existent and she is asking me (with an ass) if she looks fat? What am I? A behemoth? Gimme a break skinny schizophrenic...

Correct, I did not look overweight and people continually guessed my weight to be 130 to 140.
I didn't need to be told how I looked, but it's just an example of how BMI is sometimes not a very accurate indicator of whether or not someone needs to lose weight.
