My favorite is starting things or planning to start things. Least favorite is finishing things. So like yard work I might like to design a garden, shop for seeds, rototill and plant but then not want to water or weed. I might weed then not want to haul the weeds to the compost pile. We cut a huge pile of logs and split them but then I didn't want to carry them to the woodshed and stack them. I designed and built the woodshed but didn't want to pound the rest of the nails or put on the last couple of boards. I ended up hiring two men to pound the nails and stack the wood so it was done. I have the same problem with things like sewing, I like buying fabric and patterns even cutting out the pieces but then never feel like hemming what I sewed some times stuff doesn't even get cut out. I learned not to buy fabric.

My great aunt tells us about how her mother would start a sewing project and give it to my aunt to finish it. Guess it runs in the family

The word chore has such a negative connotation in my mind that I'm having a hard time thinking of a favorite one. One of my very least favorites is mopping floors. I don't mind vacuuming though, so I guess I'll say that is my favorite. (unless or until I think of something better).

I hate doing laundry - it's a never ending task. I also hate making my bed, but I stopped doing that years ago. I guess my favorite chore would be changing the bedding - because my cats like to hinder, I mean help, with that chore. They are so cute when they 'float' down from layer to layer (getting pets and belly rubs as we go along) as I remove peices (in the winter there's a down comforter, a blanket, maybe another blanket, a top sheet, a fitted sheet) and then they float to the top as each layer is replaced... although things get a little 'lumpy' between the fitted sheet and the top sheet. Sometimes the lumps BITE when you try to smooth them out. ) Then there's the pillows and pillow cases which become a Cat Fort (or igloo) from which the cats can attack the feather on a stick OR dig thru the pillows for the milk ring on a string. So cute!
We play attack the air bubble game when I put down the fitted and flat sheets. The Barfy boy used to let me cover him up and we'd play peek-aboo. Now that he's 15 he doesn't play as much. The evil black cat will not let me cover her up but she likes to hide under the bed and attack my feet through the dust ruffle. It always freaks me out when she first does it and I'm afraid I'm going to land on one of her paws.

I hate to cook, except to make chili for some reason. My chili turns out well. I like to do dishes, if a dishwasher is involved. It's a good balance for DH and me, since he likes to cook.
I don't like to take the dirty laundry downstairs, but I do like to fold up clothes. It's a good deal. DD does some heavy housecleaning for us, since she is working off a monthly payment for a loan for some plumbing fixes on her new house.
It's been great lately !

I don't mind doing laundry or vacuuming, which is a good thing, because between the kids, DH & my Mom, I do a LOT of laundry. (And, Bad Boy Puppy is always shedding.)
I hate cleaning the bathroom. I'd gladly hire a cleaning lady just to do that job!

I hate, hate, hate to mop. I will mop only when my socks stick to the floor and come off my feet.. I don't mind cooking, I just don't do it very often - that's what resturants are for.

My great aunt tells us about how her mother would start a sewing project and give it to my aunt to finish it. Guess it runs in the family My mom had a sewing project that took over 25 years. She started when pregnant in 1947 with my oldest brother. It was a quilt with cats on squares. Each cat was from fabric she sewed our clothing from so sun suits and things when we were preschool. Each cat was a different fabric hand sewn with embroidered whiskers. She has a large stack of squares. When my nephew was about 7 and he was born in 1969 so mid 70s she finally finished it. She gave it to him on the condition he use it. He spent years with that comforter watching TV and dragging it around the house. Then got an apartment that had a fire and it was burned but much of the stitching had already come off. So at least the quilt wasn't wasted just over a generation late.

Don't you have some of hose 'mop socks' (maybe they are shoes) ? Squirt some cleaner on the floor and scoot/dance away! Actually, I don't either. But I've seen them! & my bathroom is tiny, I do it on my hands and knees. I don't mind cleaning, if I have a place to put everything. Least favorite is probably putting the clean clothes away, but that's mainly due to a lack of space. The thing I do least often, is clearing off my desk.

I love laundry and hand washing dishes.
I hate putting away the clean cuterly from the dishwasher. there are so many little pieces.
I'm neutral about taking out garbage, which I do. I don't know when people decided that it was a man's job. Unless it was really heavy, but why would you ever let that much trash accumulate in your house??

I love cooking, but ironing makes me homicidal. I would cook enough three-course meals to feed all the children in the entire horn of africa, before I'd volunteer to iron one shirt. Something about ironing a sleeve or pant leg and finding that I've steamed an ugly crease into the other side aggravates me more than words can express.

I don't mind vacuuming, laundry, dusting, taking out the trash, or putting things away (Anything I can do with a TV show/movie going in the background). I hate dishes and cleaning bathrooms (Basically anything that involves lots of water/getting your hands in dirty water).

I hate vacuuming. I also dislike dusting. Don't mind cooking, mopping floor or cleaning bathrooms. DH hates vacuuming as well. I should hire a housekeepe but he won't hear of it.
Favorite chores are handling the money and gardening (weeding, pruning, puttering)

Now doing the laundry I don't mind, because the wahser/ dryer most of the work So I do the laundry but DH folds and puts it away. He is also the official person in her household for ironing. I do all the cooking too. Love it!! But cleanup after that is DH's job again.

I hate, HATE, sweeping my hardwood floors. I honestly don't know why everyone likes hardwoods so much, they are such a PITA! favorite chore is ironing. something calming about smoothing out the wrinkles. Vacuum them. I hate sweeping! Sent from my Nexus 4 using proboards tried that this weekend.....and no. still ended up having to sweep the hardwoods anyway. vacuuming totally worked on the XL white tile in the master bathroom though. I'm definitely doing that again! so, not a total loss.

DH just swiffers the hardwood after i vacuum and it's all shiny and clean.

a friend of mine's got a snazzy all-surface Dyson. I've got a $35 Dirt Devil from Target lol... since I don't know how much longer I'll be here, or where I'm going next, it's all I really need for now. I just got all hopeful when you suggested vacuuming. I can't believe I never thought of that.

I lived in one place in college that had a dumpster sitting up on a concrete pad. The thing was a good foot taller than me. I didn't have the arm strength to heave the really heavy bags up in there. So yeah taking trash out was the man's job. Considering I did everything else, he could damn well take the garbage out. That's the only place I've lived where I considered taking out the trash the man's job.

I really hate anyone else doing the laundry and cooking so I guess that means they are my favorite. I definately HATE cleaning the toilet area. All I have to say is I have a 10 year old boy with aim problems. This thread did teach me a few things though. I never thought I was supposed to move the appliances to clean under than. Someone here hold your breath until I do that.

Just get a cat... ours likes to stick his paw under the stove and drag out all the dust and hair and food particles. Usually right after I've swept. I don't know what the back 2' looks like, but the first 6" or so of floor under the front of the stove is sparkling!
