I wonder if she has student loans. Can she keep her job if she is on drugs and doing crimes?

I wonder if she has student loans. Can she keep her job if she is on drugs and doing crimes? Not normally but there will be a "process". Not sure what the CA Bar Association requires but there's probably something along the line of "moral turpitude" whereby your behavior is so outrageous that you bring shame on the association. And in CA that's saying something!

This won't be more than a fairly minor inconvenience for our traveling public defender. She'll claim protection under the ADA. She's an alcoholic. And alcoholism is an illness. You can't fire me or lift my law license for having an illness. That wouldn't be nice. And it wouldn't be fun, either.
After all, it wasn't like she was in the court room defending a client while drunk. And she didn't throw up on the judge.

No they will try to find a reason to fire her now based on this, and if that doesn't work they can find other reasons to fire her later on I am sure
and once she is fired, getting a new law job will be tough.....so worst case / best case she is stuck in the same job forever
