I installed a spending monitoring app to see where my leaks are. It's neat so far. It just categorizes everything I spent in cc and compares to previous month. What I found is that although in my head I felt like we were "eating out" a lot, in reality less than $90 a month is going to eating out. I guess subway and pizzaria is cheaper than expected. And the more expensive eat out is actually mcdonalds!
I did find that I am averaging over $1000/mo on charges, so time to figure where the real skimping needs to be. Around $500 of that is on supermarket.
The only glitch I found is I can't put my checking account on this. Most bills are direct deposit, but I would like to see how costco and a very sick baby winter with copays adds up.
