I haven't used "bar" soap for at least 2 or 3 years. I use aloe-based Soft-Soap for hands/face. Or a Neutrogena Glycerin Facial Ceanser (liquid) - followed by unscented moisturizer - like Ponds.
I don't use bar soaps in the shower/bath either - I use a liquid gel or lotion body wash - also usually with aloe - Dial makes some nice ones - no irritation that I've noticed - Dove also makes liquid body-wash, as well as other brands.
I find bar-soaps are more difficult to rinse off - as opposed to liquid body-wash.
Maybe that's why you have skin irritation - the bar soap is leaving a "film" on your skin.

The only soaps I've tried that don't make me itch like crazy are Dove and Oil of Olay. Caress has always made me itch. I haven't bought Dove in years, so I don't know if I can still use it. I only buy Oil of Olay now. I take or buy a new bar when I spend the night away from home. That's how much other soaps irritate me. I can use Neutrogena body wash, but not on my entire body.

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I got spoiled years ago to French milled vegetable soaps. Used to get them in Spain. Now I have to have them shipped, but it's worth it for me.
