Are we talking breakfast lunch and dinner? or just dinner? All of the above, as far as I'm concerned.

dinner, maybe 2 times a month, more during football season as we go to a local joint called score card. a lot of our other dinners are at Texas Roadhouse.
we do lunch maybe 2 times a month, sometimes with each other, other times with friends, usually olive garden for soup, salad, and breadsticks.

I eat out lunch almost every workday. However, it's at a local snack bar on site whose prices are pretty reasonable. Lunch usually runs about $6-$8 a day, not that much more expensive than if I packed my own.
As far as dinner, probably about twice a week on average. Being single, eating out is a bit more economical than compared to a large family.

DH and have dinner out about 1-2 times a week, on average. sometimes not at all... and breakfast/brunch maybe 1-2 times a month.
I have brunch with friends once or twice a month.
I don't generally eat at chains, the beauty of my location is they are relatively few and far between!

We go out to dinner at a table service place at least once a week, basically rotating between a local Irish pub, local diner, and a Longhorn's. I buy lunch out once in a while; breakfast out only on vacation. I will pick up take out once or twice a week for dinner; trying to cut back on that.

Not often. If we do, it's because we are travelling to see the in laws. For us, as a couple, we do once or twice a month for date night. But this is recent as in the last 6 months. And when we do, we usually spend a lot. Never under $100. Usually about $180-$200. We eat well at home, so DH likes to go to places for the decor, ambiance, service and for food that we would never make at home, and he drinks, which always ups the tab by quite a bit. Otherwise, we never went out as a couple much prior. Sometimes, my husband will go out for lunch when people at work do. But we put that under the social category, to foster working relationships. Maybe once every 2-3 months. They do have happy hours, but that is funded by the company though. Otherwise, it's not a regular thing. We probably average 1-2 times a month (date night or circumstances) and maybe more if we're travelling somewhere. But even then, we usually pack a lunch in our cooler. Do I get a gold star?

I usually have leftovers and while I don't price every meal I make - most meals I make run like $2-$3 a serving. If you did sandwich and chips (which is what my DH and DS have every day for lunch - well yogurt and goldfish for DS), it is $3 range. I think you need to do a real pricing of what bringing a meal would be.

Breakfast- rarely- handful of times a year. When we do go out to breakfast we go to the café by the university. Small local place, great food.
Lunch- I'll grab a salad from the grocery store's salad bar a couple of times a month maybe. DH never goes out to eat for lunch. We used to eat out for lunch on Saturdays if we were running errands but have stopped doing that for the most part.
Dinner- we eat out one night a week on average. Usually a middle of the week night. DS is nearly 16 and he is great to hang out with so having him along is no problem. We aren't fans of chain restaurants. We'll either get: Sushi at a small local place, Greek at a small local place, and Chinese at again a small local place. Or burgers and that at the café mentioned in the Breakfast part. Sadly our favorite Indian restaurant recently closed.
We haven't eaten fast food since September and that's because our German Exchange student requested it.

I eat out for lunch a couple times a week. DH buys lunch for his staff (1-2 people) regularly. My MIL also regularly brings him Mexican food and when she does she feeds his crew too.
As a family we get takout fish fry or Chinese on Fridays and frequently have takeout from the local Italian Restaurant (DiCarlos). DiCarlos has a full Italian menu on takeout and they also do Catering. I often get Jimmy Johns for lunch on Saturday. DS likes Papa Murphy's Take and Bake - I can't eat Pizzza, but DH decided he likes it too so he does not mind if DS wants to get Pizza from there.
I can't remember the last time we went to a restaurant with our kids (20 and 16) the family often has conflicting plans. DH has wanted to go to breakfest for awhile now-maybe when DS is on Spring Break at the end of March.
We have $45 in gift cards we got for X-Mas from RedLobster/Olive Garden Chain. We have yet to use them.

My husband and I eat lunch out separately every weekday. We probably eat dinner out at least 4 times a week. Weekend breakfast and lunches out most of the time. We don't really like cooking. But we are expecting a baby in September and I would assume we will avoid eating out for a while so we don't bring a screaming infant out in the public. If my hubby stays home with the baby then we will definately eat at home more. But I assume my lunch will probably always be bought somewhere because I am too lazy to bring my lunch right now. Our vices are eating out too much and buying cars too often.

I go out for lunch most days during the workweek. Which is sad because I make better food at home, and enjoy it on the rare days I pack up leftovers. There is a spot where I get a veggie burger and fries, a pizza place - they have a salad slice, a Pakistani hole in the wall, au bon pain for soup, and when the weather is nice I will walk to Chinatown for wheat gluten and veggie spring rolls. It's mostly laziness that keeps me from putting together my lunch at home. Also, no one else packs lunch, so I have lunch buddies. Right now, I take breaks most days with my work boyfriend.
For going out to dinner, maybe once a month or so? I much prefer doing this with small groups. Everything takes longer when you try to get together more than four people for a meal. They never all arrive on time, you can't get seated right away, ordering even drinks becomes an ordeal. The thing I hate most about restaurants (chains usually,) is that you can't really enjoy yourself and connect with your friends, because once their scripted time for you is up, they start pushing you out the door. My mom has a favorite local restaurant that has live music on Friday nights, and they have no problem with us staying for a few hours.

When I was working, the MOST my lunch would cost me would be $3. Those were the lunches where I had nothing in the fridge and grabbed one of the frozen meals I kept stashed as an emergency. I'd buy several when they were <$2 each, add a piece of fruit and soda and I was good. I actually did calculate how much my lunches ran. A 12 pack of soda for $2 (again on sale) was 0.16 each. Fruit was usually whatever loss leader at the grocery store, normally less than 0.50. I think I calculated that leftover lentil soup was my cheapest lunch at 0.25/decent sized bowl. Leftover spaghetti was about $1.

2-3 times/month. Except this month - we were in Hawaii and ate dinner/lunch out about half the time. But an ordinary month it's 2-3 times.

I seldom eat out so maybe once a month average. Twice we went to the diner by his house and once to Subway but I took it back to his house. Once I went to McD for a sandwich, no fries or drink just a sandwich while driving. We had Chinese once so that is it for about 6 months. He came for the night Monday and offered to take me out but I declined because I had just bought prawns and watercress and wanted to cook them for him. He wanted to take me to Outback for Valentine's day but I declined because I didn't want to fight the crowds.

We eat out more than I'd like. Dollar-wise, it usually lands in the $50-$100/month range. But, I'm talking everything from picking up a breakfast sandwich at the gas station to $1.99 Happy Meals for the toddler to sit down meals.
It's about a 15 minute drive from town to my house, so sometimes (like tonight when my son has a band recital only an hour and a half after I get done with work) not eating out is tough.

On workdays I get an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. Fridays that I work I also get donuts for the donut group at work.
Lunch I eat out most work days. Sometimes we eat at the cafe on site. Other times we go out and it's a mix of national chains, regional chains and local places. Today was a local place.
Dinner, I try to cook. Some nights I don't feel like it or my schedule isn't conducive to it.
Days I'm off if I'm at home I eat more meals at home. I bring leftovers if I have them but generally I don't. I'm trying to cut back on prepared stuff due to food allergies so I don't do canned soup or frozen dinners.

Well, it's kind of hard to have leftovers when I never have leftovers to begin with. Whenever I cook, I only make enough for the meal at hand. I am trying to price it out if I brought a sandwhich and chips or something myself. I estimate that if I did that, it would be about $4, so in reality I'm spending $2-$3 per day on lunch over what I would likely do otherwise.

I don't eat out often. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out no matter the time of day. After that it's Mexican, Chinese or Thai. I haven't seen much Thai food in the south.
Checking my records for 2013, I spent $701.55 eating out for the entire year!

I ate out twice this month. The first time, I forgot my lunch at home. The second time was because I was out of leftovers, had worked super late, and knew I was too tired to cook. So, that makes two for the month.

Pretty much never. I might grab pizza once a month at work. I might go to dinner/for wings and beers with one of the BFF's maybe every other month. Only time I eat out all the time is when mom visits me or I visit her. We pretty much eat out every meal then

When we travel. Otherwise maybe once a month.
Before YM and our move to Germany we used to eat out A LOT. You would have had you seen my Quicken register in 2007.

If we go with spending $4 extra per lunch per work day, for 50 weeks a year (which is a very generous estimate), you get $1000 per year. To me, that's worth the trouble of not having to make my lunch every morning. It's all about priorities.

Hubby & I try to go out to dinner whatever day of the week he has off. He typically only gets 1 day a week off & it changes. so we try and go out, just the two of us on that day. We are creatures of habit & generally go to our fav Chinese food place or Mexican food place. if a new Mexican place opens (which seems like a new one pops up every couple of months) we'll go try it out at least once. We joke that we go out to really nice places (think steak house) twice a year, on his bday & on our anniversary.
Kiddo & I go out to eat at least once a week, again just the two of us. With him, we try out new places & it always changes up where we go. Sometimes we go out for really good pizza, tomorrow we're having Japanese food & sushi at a new place that just opened. And at least one night a week, he'll bring something home when he comes home from work or school. I never know what it'll be until he strolls in around 11 pm and goes "I brought home....". Sometimes he'll bring sushi, sometimes it's burgers, sometimes it's chicken. It's whatever struck his fancy that night. If he's working his fast food job to close, sometimes he'll bring in a ton of fried shrimp and I get to pig out.
Hubby & kiddo typically go out one morning a week for breakfast. It's hubby's "check in with kiddo" time.
If I go anywhere with my mom, we're going to eat lunch. It's just a given.

I really like that your husband goes out with your child. They need to be together, and bond. Not bond out of jail bonding either. haha

my hubby works nights/sleeps during the day. My kiddo is in college & works 2 jobs. it's really the only time they see each other & get to talk about what's been going on.
