No, not over Lunchables. (But I think you know that.) Nobody will die if they eat a Lunchable. I think I would. They just look nasty. I will however, eat nuked chicken nuggets dipped in ranch dressing until I sprout feathers. I'm cheap so I won't spend the money to buy so little food just so they can get lunchables. But my kids have had them and they didn't drop dead I guess I don't know what is in the lunchables that is worse than me packing them ham or turkey (deli meat) sandwhiches for lunch.

My mother's been a carb freak all her life. She's 92. The nursing home he was in used to complain to my dad that grandpa wouldn't eat any fruits or veggies other than corn and potatoes. My dad was like, he's 83 and he hasn't eaten them yet. Why start now? That's pretty much my attitude, as well, Swamp, as it was with my elderly patients. I'd much rather see mother (and those patients) enjoy a meal and eat a goodly portion of it than I would to see them pass on a nutritious, healthy meal. In their 80s and 90s, the time to worry about cholesterol levels, fatty foods, and health-building diets has passed. I figure, at that age, they're calling the shots and should have what will make them happy.

He couldn't even walk without assistance.

My grandfather used to eat 5 meals a day - 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and at least one dinner - depending if he was home or not. At least 2-3 of those meals contained vodka. A lot of his meals included "salo", which is Ukranian food (OK, don't gag), is pure pig fat, that is salted and gone through some kind of process. He would cut a huge piece, put it on a a piece of bread and woala - have a sandwich. He died at 93, never took any medications.
I have similar stories about my other grandparents.
I often wonder if older generations were much stronger than us.....well, at least those who survived to live that long

Fortunately, daddy never expected that of me because I didn't smoke. Still, if that's what he wanted at 83 years of age, let him have it. It's not like he's going to live that much longer anyway, so any possible time of regret won't be long. Like your grandpa, it made him happy.

Partly because they use low quality, fatty meats, crackers and cheeses but also because they add all sorts of preservatives.

OK, let me tell you about Lunchables. When we first came here I was FASCINATED by all that. I've never seen anything like that in my life. That, and frozen dinners. I begged my mom to get it, but we were on a VERY tight budget and she wasn't willing to spend money on something she didn't know what it was.
Years later, I started buying some of that stuff. I've never liked a single frozen dinner or lunchable. But OMG, I was sooooo drawn to the pics on the box.
That's all I know about that topic.

Meh, my kids eat some hot dogs in the summer. Can't be any worse than that.

So he would have that on Sat morning and the go to synagogue.

I've stayed out if this but I object to this statement. The only two going at it are you and MM. I didn't use your name and am not accusing you of anything. Other than being guilty of feeding your kids Lunchables. Like feeding my kids lunchables is the worst thing I've done as a parent.

Either way, sounds like it's probably much the same. Mother's granddad died at 87, so I guess it didn't bring on an early death!
