Non-spousal My Mom died 10 years ago. My Dad never transferred her IRA to himself. NO RMD taken in 10 years. Fast Forward.
My Dad died a year ago. Brother & I are the contingent benies on both IRAs. Are we going to be on the hook for a bunch of penalties on Mom's IRA? It might not be worth taking. |

See a pro.... a lot of facts need to be reviewed..... and your situation is not uncommon, I often see situations where one spouse passes away and the other never changes title... and then 10 years later a lot of work is needed to fix it....
