I paid $2.99 a gallon yesterday in MD suburb of DC. This morning that same gas station had gas at $3.05 gallon. I'll see what the price is tomorrow morning.

$3.37 today when I filled up, I believe it was around 3.17 last week when I filled in the seattle area.

$4/gal seems to be the magic number when everyone starts freaking out. Thats when everyone at my work starts looking for carpool pals, and taking the bus. Then it drops again and everyone reverts to their same habits.

Not sure of the price. I went to stop and each pump had 2 cars waiting so I left. I can send dh when he gets off work instead. Are they predicting it to really go up? This was early afternoon (post lunch rush in a residential area) so it seemed really strange to be so busy.

"Are they predicting it to really go up?" A little conflict in the Middle East... I need to double check but my guess is gas is between $6.00-$6.50 a gal here (math starts getting complex with the conversions from liters to gallons and Euros to dollars, lol). In the short term we'll benefit. We get some oil royalty revenue. The last time gas approached $4.00 gal in the US we got monthly checks of about $5k. That sure beats working for a living! And although part of our deal here is that the company supplies gas cards, we don't drive much; perhaps 10mi-15mi/wk. I'm sure glad we made our plans for our trip to Turkey and locked in our guide price before things got exciting in the Middle East. Gas was already about $10/gal-I can't imagine how much more it is today. Thanks Mich1! And finally, while I think higher gas prices aren't good for the slow recovering economy, I do agree with the earlier post that the upside is that folks start economizing and auto makers start building products to match. I remember living in AZ in 2005 & 2006 and being aghast at seeing so many Hummers being driven around, especially by real estate agents and contractors. Since they get about 10mi/gal it was nothing more than a sign of ostentatious consumption.

Northern VA Wednesday 2/23 morning $3.09 - evening raised to $3.19 Monday I paid $3.05 at the WaWa that's on my commute route. Yesterday when I went to lunch, it was $3.07. This morning on the way to work it was $3.15. At the stations near my house, its just getting to $3.05 but I'm pretty certain it will be higher than that by Saturday. Fortunately, the one I prefer doesn't raise his prices right away but seems to wait things out a few extra days to make sure its not just a panic jump. Guess its a good thing I've been forcing myself to bring leftovers for lunch instead of going out to save money but this increase is still going to mess up my budget. I'm not good at the self-discipline thing when it comes to money and it always seems that when I can make myself put out the effort to be better, something like this will happen to make me wonder why I bother.

Damn straight! Every time I can't fit into a parking space because some jagoff parked his/her giant bus over the line, I start wishing that gas prices hit $5/gallon.

Woodbridge, or the one on 29?

You know what we should all do? Stop buying gas from Exxon and Mobil (since they're the largest oil company) that will force them to lower their prices to $2.
I know it's true b/c I got an email about it!
What do you say? Are we all in!!??
I think it was about $3.33 for mid-grade this morning - about 30 miles north of Philly

3.09 in Denver this morning. Come May I'll start riding my bike to work again at least 2 days a week and hopefully 3-4, although our gas costs are pretty darn low already.

It hit 3.29 here. I don't use much gas, so I don't really pay attention.

$2.98 on base, where I filled up today. $3.29 at the Chevron next door to my house, and it had jumped 20 cents a gallon overnight.

$3.50 - $3.70 for mid-grade.
I'm not hearing as much talk about gas prices this time around. Last time it was this level it seemed like it was all over the news. Are we just used to it?

I was looking through some old pictures from when we lived in NY and saw one I'd taken in June 2008, regular was $4.35 a gallon So comparatively, it's not THAT bad yet. I do worry about this summer, though, DH's Jeep gets about 10mpg AND requires premium gas. We may just be parking it in the yard and listening to the radio It's a shame, so much fun to ride in during the warm months!
