What is the most helpful, frugal, DYI tip or idea you've found online? Our dishwasher had been making some god-awful noises for many months. I finally researched it online, and found some tips. I started with pouring a quart hot water and 1 cup vinegar in the bottom of it and let it sit overnight. The noise went away. The washer still isn't performing to 100%, so next I'll remove the spray arms and filter and clean them. Anything to not have to buy a new washer!

If there's hard water going into your D/W you might be getting a calcium/lime build-up around/inside the spray arms that's causing blockage in the spray jets.
I'd suggest using CLR cleaner, and then run a cycle with the D/W empty to break down the build-up. You "might" have to do that a couple of times - run it on a full cycle. I've done it and it does clear/clean the jets in the spray arms.

Yup. One of my friends suggested the CLR, too, SL. Thank you!

I just use vinegar instead of jet dry...works the same as far as no spots and keeps the dishwasher looking GREAT inside...no build up any place.
