What do you think? They will be valentine gifts and the fragrance is Amber Rose.

Very pretty - did you melt the soap and then mold it in a form? I'm curious what you used the for pink tint.

No it's from scratch the old fashioned way. Oils , water, lye. I used some whipping cream in this one also so hopefully it will be extra creamy. The pink is an oxide sold for soap making.

The letters are from a cake fondant kit. I tap them on with a mallet before the soap gets real hard. Another soap maker shared that tip with me. If you have ever been slightly interested in making soap just do it. It is an extremely addictive fun hobby. Lye is not that scary if you take precautions. It's not an inexpensive hobby either, but not hard once you get the hang of it. It makes the house smell great also.

I make scented candles - melting beeswax or paraffin wax and adding color and fragrant oils to the wax while it's melted/warm. Then once it's cooled enough, it gets poured into a votive candle mold.
They're nice if you do one layer with a scent such as cinnamon, pour and let cool, then add another layer - of (maybe vanilla) and let it cool, orange or other citrus etc.
You can use cinnamon, apple and pine scents for more "holiday" themed Votives.

Yum. "Someone" should start a business. Not naming names it if the soap fits.....

Thanks zib. I would love to someday I think. Just no time right now. Don't know anything about starting a small business and would have to do a lot of research. Just having fun now experimenting with recipes and trying to make them pretty. My friends and family are helpful quinea pigs. I will be coming to all of you for advice maybe someday.

My soap addiction just will not go away. I have to show you the soap I made this week while I was off work. Luckily I go back to work on Mon. because I just can't stop otherwise. I think I'm making another today. What I can't trade or give away has been getting donated to the women's shelter & they love it! Spring Fling Pear champagne Juniper Breeze Cherry Blossom

Oh my gosh what a fun week this was and I had time today for one more batch of Southern Peach which is still cooking. I wish I could use you guys as testers but insurance would cost me $ 500 a year so I have to stick with friends and relatives that I know won't sue me if they rub their eyeballs on it or something. I have to hope they are not just being nice & pretending they like it. The shelter takes anonymous donations as long as they are labeled . Dh is looking forward to Mon. as every other word out of my mouth this week was "Soap" At what point does a hobby become an obsession I wonder.

Those are absolutely gorgeous. I know someone who does soaps in spare time and takes them to the Flea Market to sell. I don't know what her booth costs for Sat & Sun but she seems to do OK. I can see how you would get addicted to making something so pretty.
Those would be like "guest towels" - too pretty to use

They're very pretty, @xmascookie. I'm sure the ladies at the shelter are thrilled to have something so lovely and feminine.

I can imagine - on both sides! Those gals have been through a lot, in most cases. It's got to brighten their spirits to have something pretty, and it's so kind of you to think of them and provide that boost in spirits!

Those would be like "guest towels" - too pretty to use Thank you! I think it would be fun to do the farmers markets some day when I have more time. I'm not sure how profitable it would be for me now though unfortunately as I think you have to mass produce to get good rates on supplies. Maybe , hopefully, someday. It sure is addicting though and everyone I know is truly tired of hearing me talk about it. Thanks to you all for indulging me and for the encouragement!
