...this may be one of the most ridiculous lawsuits of the year.
Pimp sues Nike for not warning shoes could be dangerous if used to beat people
A Portland pimp is suing Nike for not placing a warning label in their shoes specifying that they could be used as a dangerous weapon -- after he was sentenced to 100 years in prison for brutally beating a john with his sneaker.
Sirgiorgiro Clardy, 26, claims Nike should have placed a warning in the shoes warning consumers that the kicks have the potential to be used as a dangerous weapon, according to The Oregonian newspaper. Clardy is seeking $100 million for what he believes was the shoe manufacturer’s oversight.
In June, Clardy repeatedly stomped on the face of a client with his Jordan Nike shoes when the man refused to pay Clardy’s prostitute. The man required stitches and plastic surgery after the beating.
Clardy was sentenced to 100 years in prison for beating the man as well as attacking an 18-year-old prostitute so violently that she bled from her ears.
Rest of story here. Pimp sues Nike for not warning shoes could be dangerous if used to beat people
Idiot.

OMG that's so ridiculous it's funny! (Not for the victims, obviously) - but the fact that he wants to sue Nike for not classifying their sneakers as dangerous weapons. I guess stomping on someone's head wasn't his fault - the shoes made him commit aggravated assault.
Now the law's put their foot down on him.

They ought to have a reality show called "Ultimate Victim" starring guys like this.
You would think a guy would be embarrassed to admit he cannot even control his own shoes. What a wuss.
And shame on those shoes!
edited to add: my hair dryer came with a warning not to use it while I was sleeping. I do not even want to speculate about what some nefarious hair dryer did to some poor woman while she was sleeping. If you cannot trust your own appliances...

Must be a slow news day when they cover something like this- people in jail with access to law libraries are notorious for suing everyone for anything you can imagine. I'll give him one thing- maybe he is pissed that a jury classified his shoes as a 'dangerous weapon' to give him more time. That sounds like bullshit to me. It wasn't spiked golf shoes or mountain climbing gear. Right idea- wrong path. 'Pimp sues Nike' attracts some traffic though- as if being a pimp was relevant.

Put him in a cell with big bubba and his cousins. Let them know he brutally beat an 18 year old girl.

This really is funny. While the damage done to the "john" and the girl are not at all funny, this guy is a hoot! I really hope this one is dismissed as a frivolous suit and promptly thrown in the round file!

I am the only one concerned he got "100 years" for beating some one? Maybe it was a lot worse than described here but that seems excessive if neither victim suffered permanent damage. I would think 25-50 would make better sense. Just saying since our tax payer dollars are now funding his ability to make annoying law suits!

Well, we don't know that the victims didn't suffer permanent damage. I'm sure that's yet to be determined. Getting stomped on in the head/face no doubt did leave some permanent physical or trauma-related injuries.
As for his lawsuit against Nike, how is that a taxpayer expense? The accused is the one who has to file the suit and retain a lawyer to represent him in a suit.
As for the sentence, he did commit assault & battery - their injuries may indeed be permanent.
He may also have a previous conviction or convictions (plural) record for similar charges. We don't know the history of the assailant.
The fact that he wants to sue Nike with a defense that the "shoes made him do it" is a joke.
