What were awful and stupid were some of the comments posted in reaction to the photo; people were making nasty cracks about he must be a drug dealer, he "rented" the kids to make a good impression(?), all sorts of typically nasty Internet junk.

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I love it! Daddy is multi-tasking! Seriously, there are some people who just cannot resist taking pot-shots. They just can't stand it that someone, somewhere might be better at something than they think they are. They can't fathom those who don't think, act and look like they do. Pity the fool. This guy looks like he's got it going on as a parent.

I agree, mmhmm; I think it's a lovely picture. He apparently took it to prove to his wife he could take care of the kids on his own Some people have nothing better to do than be hateful, though, which is depressing.

Some people have so much hate within themselves that bringing others down or tearing them apart is the only thing they know.
The dad has everything going for him and some people cannot handle that reality.

There are those who are completely centered on differences, rather than on similarities. They'd rather find fault than value. It's who they are, and I pity them in some ways. Must be one heck of a nasty way to have to live life. The pic is great. Now that it's out there and has gone viral, it can serve as a beacon to young, struggling parents. This guy can do it! So can you! And ... it's actually fun!

I saw this a couple of days ago and I thought, "Good for him. Good father".
We have been bombarded and almost brainwashed for years with the false stereotype of absent black fathers. When I see a black man outside walking and holding the small hand of their child, I want to stop and say thank you. If I did stop and comment, the guy(s) would probably think I was crazy.
It is not some rare sight but the norm.

It is not some rare sight but the norm. I've thought the same way, Tenn. Dad's (and mom's) like this are a wonderful tool for teaching what parenting is really all about. It's not about the hard work. Lotsa things are hard work. Heck, skiing can be hard work, as can any other number of things we do for pleasure. To me, it's about the joy that comes from actively participating in the making of a good, kind, loviing person who will someday be a boon to society as a whole. Like life, parenting has its ups and downs. My two are in their 50s and I can assure those of you with little ones, the view from where I am is really magnificent. I didn't make them who they are. They did. However, I was there to help along the way; to encourage, to love, to kiss boo-boos, and to care from the bottom of my heart. That comes back to me every day, in more ways than I can count and there are still opportunities for me to give some more.

I do thank parents for doing a great job. Most recent was a dad limiting soda consumption by his kids. I don't worry that they will think I am crazy (probably since I am).

It doesn't bother me to do so, either, billis. Parents need a boost, too, now and then. When your kid is having a meltdown in the grocery store aisle is often one of those times. It's nice to have someone you may not know stop and say something kind, or try to help. We all benefit from a little kindness and an occasional "atta boy/girl".

These photos are adorable. There are always people trying to spoil a good thing. I especially like the last picture with the capes.
