forum usage: copy/paste into a post?

Is there a way to paste text into a post? I try this now and I get a strange font, incorrect paragraphs, and other issues.  Thanks!

I assume doxie's question is tongue-in-cheek. I have a BS and MS in engineering/mathematics (and post-grad work as well). I work for a software publisher. I also have a state license registration in my field.

But seriously, as for forum usage, I have seen some users have problems replying while quoting someone else: their own reply gets put into the quote box, etc. I have found that happening to me too as a function of the software, but I work around it by using the coding window.

My own question was based on entering a lengthy post, I wanted to draft in a text editor and then paste into the forum editor. But every time I did the font got changed from the forum's default, and numerous crlf's were entered. The latter problem was cured by turning off the line wrap feature in Notepad before copying. The font issue I "corrected" by using the coding window (BBCode), specifying the font, then pasting my own text between the font code instructions. I use Windows 7 on a desktop and Windows Vista on a laptop.

what are you copying the text from?   Something like Word might give you some funny characters.  If you can get it into a simple program like wordpad or notepad you should be able to copy and paste without any issues.
