At first I thought this was a sick, sick, joke but it is (unconfirmed) from a news source normally friendly with N. Korea.
Wow, how totally horrible.

Makes you shudder, doesn't it? For all the whining and complaining we do here in the US, we oughta be darned glad we're not in North Korea!

Wonder if it is true. The detail is excellent: 120 dogs, starved 5 days, 300 observers, one hour ordeal. Does make for a great story.

I would imagine if you did such an awful thing that in part you intend it as a warning to others under your rule that they better toe the line and get with the program. And to do so, you'd have to publicize it.

Wow! Gives a whole new meaning to "going to the dogs"! I was thinking more in terms of our Federal government death panels for the elderly here in the states.

This might be a prelude to Kim Jong Un's death.

Wasn't this the same guy who tied down some poor guy, and aimed a missile at him to kill him? Or did his dad do that?
Makes the death penalty in our country seem more sane...

If true, though, I would imagine more than a few of the 300 onlookers, had a moment where they wondered, but for the grace of God, go I
Could have been an eye opener for them.

I'm thinking Kim Jong Un needs to lay off watching mafia movies for a while...sheesh! Those movies are for entertainment KJU, they're not a "how-to" series!

I'm finding this story a little hard to believe. 120 dogs just doesn't ring true to me. If each dog were about 3 feet long and 1 foot wide, that would be 360 square feet. Even if they are squeezed together like sardines trying to get a piece of a single man, they would take up way more space than any cage I've ever seen. I guess if there were 300 observers, it could be done in a bull stadium or something, but definitely not a "cage" like the article suggests.
It sounds like something the writers would have Joffrey do on King of Thrones

The dogs would attack the men and each other for the food. The observers could very well be outside looking though barred windows all around the room. Easy to do.

Regardless of whether the story is true or not, if the newspaper that chose to publish this report is a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party, wonder what the goal is for demonizing the guy?

I need more details. If the caged man were taken to the location of the dogs, the cage set down in the (large) dog pit and then opened from a distance, it might work. I remember reading a chapter of Silence of the Lambs where the men were taken to a hog pen and eaten alive- bones and all but there were not 120 hogs. It only took 10 to get the job done in minutes. I don't see it working too well if 120 starving dogs had to be transported to the location of the prisoner. How many trucks would that even take?

Probably a message to Un the world thinks you are an ìdiot and even China thinks so too so watch your step. Chinese support ìs waning-fast.

Because they are not demonizing KJ, they are highlighting the good he's doing by ridding the 'enemy of the people' Remember in his country and any other dictatorship/communist society, the leadership is always right. This was not picked up from a North Korean nor Chinese newspaper. It was reported in a Hong Kong newspaper. Why was it reported in a place that would clearly be picked up by the Western press and with the detail that it was? From the link in the OP: The report may be a sign of the struggle between those in the party who want to remain engaged with North Korea and those who would like to distance themselves from Kim's regime. Clearly written for Western consumption and with the knowledge that it would assessed by Western standards.

China is N. Korea's only ally. Since Kim Jong Un came to power, China has discovered he doesn't take suggestions well, and takes orders even less well. To make it simple: He doesn't cooperate and do what China wants him to do. China has been reticent about this distressing turn of events because they don't like the idea of a high level of "troubles" on their northern border. Still, there is a very strong push in China to kick this guy to the curb. Who knows what they'll do? He's definitely a fly in their ointment, though.

The image in American minds of 120 starving dogs munching on Uncle Jang's bones certainly makes it harder to protest the day when we have the Chinese Army sitting directly on the other side of the DMZ.

Yeah the south and America may just say lessor of two evils and encourage china to go in and gain control. I don't think China would do it without the explicit ok even if not totally spelled of the USA. Makes you wish we had just fixed it right the first time and wiped them out with the big guns.

Maybe the Uncle always knew this day was coming.
Or, he could be on a beach in South America right now, with all the others who have mysteriously vanished throughout history.
