"A business absolutely devoted to service will have only one worry about profits. They will be embarrassingly large." - Henry Ford
One of my favorite quotes. And while the context is for businesses, it can apply to one's personal life as well.

I prefer to set small, incremental realistic goals. . .
. . .then I'm always a winner!!

IDK, I think goals are still kinda important. If you don't know where you are going any road will get you there. where you are going being the 'goal' and the road being the 'system' or the 'process' in terms of the article. I think you do need goal(s) but solely focusing on/obsessing on the 'goal' doesn't really help you figure out HOW to get to it - or help you to determine if what you are doing to get to the goal is really the most efficiencent or most satisfying or the best way to get there. Focusing solely on the goal also doesn't really let you determine if the goal is really what you want. Sometimes you get to a goal and realize it wasn't as important to you as you thought. Attaining the goal is sometimes secondary to the experience of getting there. But, then this is what the article is saying. I'm very comfortable with the idea of setting a goal and then spending the majority of my time/effort finding/working out the path to that goal. I'm also very comfortable with the idea that there's more than one way to get to a goal and even with the idea that sometime the 'goal' I started out with changes based on how I move towards that goal. It's the journey that's important - not so much the destination - although I work towards getting to places that are important to me.

In some ways you could say its just setting smaller/different kinds of goals. But it's also a shift in focus from product.. To process.

It's about the journey, not the destination.

I'm a lost soul swimming in a fish bowl, but I am sure it would be beneficial to other people.

It's about the journey, not the destination. but you need to know where the journey is going, dont' you? Yes, the journey is the little goals--but sometimes the destination changes. If you're doing what you do well, and enjoying it, you won't mind that the greater picture goal has changed. Sometimes people focus on a goal they just weren't meant to have. Are you where you pictured your life 20 years ago? 30 years ago? Does it matter? Are you happy and proud of where you are?

I'm OK with destination changes. that's why goals should be reevaluated regularly.
My life is nothing like I thought it would be. I never thought I would be married and I was told I was infertile. I'm now a soccer mom.

Speck is on to something there. Other 'success' gurus tell you that if you don't know where you are going, how will you ever get there? Don't they also say that if you don't have your goal written down, then it is a dream/wish, not a goal?
I suppose the goal could be "get into a routine of exercising 3x/week" but even that seems to fly foul of the authors advice. After all, I must not be good enough or happy with myself until I'm working out 3x/week?
Those entrepreneur articles do bring up some thought provoking stuff. There was a great one about managing time better, and making lists was at the top (one of my resolutions). Nevertheless, when I read those articles, one thought rises above all others: I need to churn out articles full of cliches and bold claims; I could use the money.
