My children opened gifts and I think they enjoyed them. My son is playing with the box of one of the toys.
i have not received a gift but Christmas is for kids. I did attempt to order a Christmas present for myself last week, but the order did not go through for whatever reason so I just took that as a sign I was not meant to have a gift this year.
I really hate this holiday and will be happy when it is over.

Gifts have really never mattered to me, and I'm happy DH feels the same way. So we only buy for the grandkids and my sister. But that's me and not you. If gifts are important to you, you need to express that to your partner. It doesn't have to be large or expensive. Make sure he knows that it matters to you. Merry Christmas, Doxie! Don't forget to place that order!

Merry Christmas! TLoony - Did you recently move to Florida and get large dogs that like to stare at people?

Merry Christmas! TLoony - Did you recently move to Florida and get large dogs that like to stare at people? Was that a tricky question?

Hmmm. The Sarah Childs person needs to calm down and not bother people with her stupid lighting displays.
As far as Chelsea Handler and Jews' feelings about Christmas, that's their personal business.
My DH is Jewish, but very open-minded about celebrating Chrismas. Except for DD & myself, the rest of my family is atheist, so he doesn't get any pressure from anyone. I've told him that I will celebrate any Jewish holiday that he wishes, but he just gets some matzo and some kind of fish in cream sauce whenever he wants. He doesn't even want a menorah to be put up. He likes it when municipalities put up menorahs in their lighting displays, though.

I don't get Ms. Childs' bent-out-of-shape attitude about the holidays, but whatever. I'm Jewish, hubby is not. We celebrate both and I'm fine with whatever greeting I get or whatever gifts I get (DH gave me gift cards this year, which was probably the smartest thing he could have done. But he gave me a Kate Spade handbag for our anniversary, so it is kind of hard to top that ). The way I look at it, plenty of people are doing without food, and presents and other basic necessities in life. Some people are doing without their loved ones, because their loved ones are overseas serving our country, or they have passed away. I figure I have all I need and a lot of what I want, so I'm good.

Chelsea Handler is a comedy figure. Whatever she or hers are saying meant too be laughed at and with. Not going 'My DH is Jewish, but very open-minded about celebrating Chrismas'... My daughter celebrates Christmas at next door neighbors her whole life and I am sometimes go with her and loving it. Sometimes I am feeling 'jewie' more than last year and staying home with my jewish DH who has no idea that jews do not believe in JC. (yep, commies screwed us up pretty well)... So I was making this post to laugh. And boy, I am imagining IF you had ever heard Adam Sandler's song about it...
