Some of you may remember my Thanksgiving meltdown. I am happy to report Christmas Pt. 1 (one set of my kids' families so six people) was awesome! We picked the oldest two up a couple of hours early. My granddaughter and I made/decorated cookies. My grandson and DH worked on a model airplane. The rest of the family came at lunch and brought some of the food. It was an incredibly relaxed day. Christmas Pt. 2 will be the day after Christmas. My daughter's family (the one today) is three girls and an older boy. My son's family is four boys (the oldest with Oppositional Defiance Disorder) so I know it will be a little more rambunctious. But we bought a Wii this Christmas to be fair to the older ones who have outgrown the baby toys in the toy chest. We still have babies (a one-year-old and two infants) so we can't give them away. But we accept that the older ones need something different to do. My point in posting is not to be afraid of saying "This isn't working" and to try something new. My daughter and her husband also thought it was awesome. Their kids and my son's kids will intersect tomorrow at Ex's farm. There they can go play outside, ride the Gator, play with the tractor, etc. Here they are more limited. They did go outside to walk the dog (imagine three kids walking one poor cocker spaniel and you will get the picture), but there's nothing else to do outside. They tried to pretend that under our deck was a fort, but I got a little annoyed when they started kicking the lattice down. The cocker spaniel gets props; I don't. Merry Christmas, all! I am definitely in the Christmas spirit now.

Yeah for new traditions! Glad this worked out well for your family.
What is "ride the Gator"? Surely you don't mean a live gator, but one never knows.
I hope the cocker spaniel has recovered.

Good times. A Gator is a vehicle like a miniature truck with a little truck bed. Imagine a farm with a really long driveway and a barn, you can drive it with a bale of hay or use it to get the mail. Campgrounds send employees around in them to pick up trash and monitor campers, will hold about 6 black garbage bags of stuff.

Thanks for the definition crone! I've seen those vehicles, but never knew them as gators.
