I could either update this Sunday or next Saturday .... WWYD?? My 2 cents - I personally post my numbers after my payday, the last working day of the month. Sunday is the 30th so I'd prefer next Saturday.

UPDATE TIME! I get a rose!!!!! By being uber careful and not spending DH's paychecks in Jan, Feb, & march... adding our tax return and his profit sharing check, we were able to get all the money together for his 2013 Roth IRA & put in the regular monthly contributions to mine!!!! I'm so psyched!!! I've also added a new saving goal to the list ($1,000.00 Car Emergency Fund). We are going to take one month off from the massive saving to work on getting some new bedroom furniture, but then we will attach the new car EF goal and the Emergency Fund most likely since those are smaller "wins." ----- 2013 Roth IRA (Hubs) | Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) | Now: $5,500.00 Difference since last Update: $4,225.00 Emergency Fund| Goal: $12,500.00 (Starting: $12,250.00) | Now: $12,277.09 Difference since last update: $17.77 Car Emergency Fund | Goal: $1,000.00 (Starting: $0.00) | Now: $0.00 Difference since last update: $0.00 2014 Roth IRA (Mine) | Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) | Now: $825.00 Difference since last Month: $8.25 2014 Roth IRA (Hubs) | Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) | Now: $0.00 Difference since last Month: 0.00 Ambellamy: 3/30/14 $6,352.09 (1/1/14 $0, WIRS1)

Hi all & welcome to spring! Sorta. Kinda. Well, not that much, I guess. But it's not raining or snowing today, so I'll call that progress.
Life is progressing slowly it seems. We still have several issues with financial implications up in the air, but a few have been settled. DH's hospital stay WILL be covered, despite the initial panic-inducing letter to the contrary. I finally filed our taxes last week & scheduled our payments for later this week. It's still going to hurt, but it will be "nice" to have it over and done with. I am now at 28 weeks along & really need to start slowing down. For the first time thus far, I woke up just as achy as when I went to sleep last night. All is going well, as far as the pregnancy is concerned, so I will try to relax more. I am waiting on some test results, but not really expecting anything other than 'continue as normal'. Time will tell.
I rearranged our goals for this year to take into account the upheaval of the last few months. We are no longer planning to do the majority of the home improvements we were hoping for this year, but we are doing some of it - it will be nice to no longer have a 'door leading to nowhere' from our living room. One more week until we have a 2nd floor deck again! My savings total didn't change much, but the accounts we're focusing on have. I am hoping and praying that all of our smaller (car, house, pet) emergency funds will be filled back up before the baby comes, but time will tell. Progress is progress, period.

That table turned into serious garbage & I apologize. Does anyone have a good link to a 'how to' for tables in proboards? Maybe one I can access from my smartphone? Sorry for the mess, I will fix it one way or another for my next update!!!

I always copy paste from my last one, just go into edit and copy paste, then change it from there. For tutorial on Table Basics try Post #200 from here :
notmsnmoney.proboards.com/thread/29193/women-red-savers-2013?page=7
NOTE: I always find it's easier to change in BBCode and see what it will look like on the Visual side. So I paste my copy into BBCode and check what it will look like from Visual side.

Rocky Mtn Saver 04/01/14 $5,077 or 63% (01/01/14 = $0; Goal = $8,000)
Fund | 2014 Goals | Jan 1st | Last Update | Current Update | % Met | Emerg Fund | $1000 | $0 | $732 | $882 | 88% | Roth IRA | $1300 | $0 | $570 | $845 | 65% | Vacation Fund | $1000 | $0 | $440 | $750 | 75% | Investing | $500 | $0 | $25 | $100 | 20% | HSA | $2500 | $0 | $1375 | $1675 | 67% | Car Fund | $700 | $0 | $585 | $585 | 84% | Insurance | $1000 | $0 | $180 | $240 | 24% | Totals | $8000 | $0 | $3907 | $5077 | 63% |
I'm trying to get my savings done as early in the year as possible in case I have to slow it down later in the year. Plus, I will have to pay for the final stage of some dental work in June/July.

I am back but have only one goal and that is too save for my EF.
Once I am satisfied, I at least want to have $10,000 in my EF account, I will add a new goal. Right now I'm trying to pay off my car. I have my payments ahead of schedule by 2 months.

sealy, car payoff is my immediate goal as well. I am directing every extra dollar towards that. Other than housing, it was probably my biggest monthly budget item, so it's going to free up more money every month that I can direct to other payoffs.

I'll be starting over again cause I found out the amount that I have to pay the plastic surgeon. Plus I'm treating myself to a book and a couple cds. Surgery is May 7th and I got to pay the bill two weeks before.
So April 30th my amount will be changing again and I'll only be focused on one thing after that, saving for my moving EF. I'll do an early in the month Update.
I want to thank WIR Savers for giving me the focus to do this.

I just pressed the wrong button and lost my whole chart, so now I am going with the quick and not as pretty version. AHHHH. Anyway, the last month has been crazy. We decided to start looking for houses and 2 weeks later we had made an offer and it was accepted! We are closing in May. Our goals are going to get all messed up! I might just keep putting things under house down payment as we pay back savings and apply other expenses to moving, etc.

Yeah you have no idea how happy and empowered I feel doing this. Ombud I needed to deal with this from at least 2008 if not sooner. Well now it's being done and I got all the money for it.
Dayum it feels so freaking good.

In an effort to NOT get stuck behind the curve again, I am trying something a little new right now. I had emptied some smaller savings accounts (car, house, pet emergency funds, while leaving our main ER fund intact), in order to pay off our car quicker, earlier this year. Then, with the tax nonsense, I wasn't able to immediately turn around and refill those accounts like I had planned to.
Our main credit card is at 0% interest through at least the end of this year, so while we usually pay the bill in full every month, I am letting the balance creep up & instead, directing our income to refilling our savings. We have enough to pay everything off at once if we had to, but for the next few months, I am going to force myself to be okay with carrying a credit card balance - if only because it means those buffer accounts will get filled back up. I'm already 60% of the way there on the buffer accounts & I'll still be paying the credit card bill - just not in-full, like usual.
This is a very different mind-set for me, and one I'm only testing because of the 0% interest on our card right now. I hope to be back to paying the card off in full by mid-August. Our spending habits haven't changed at all, I just think that having the cash in hand (and forcing not to rob from those buffer accounts again!) will help me relax a bit. This is the first time it's backfired on me like this, so I am anxious to not ever let that happen again!!
What do you guys think? Bad idea? Good idea? Too risky? Thoughts?

tobinikui - if you're sure, absolutely sure, that you'll pay off your cc debt before the 0% offer is up, then I'd say go for it, as an experiment. I'm like Ombud, in that I personally wouldn't do it, but it seems like you've thought it over, and that it might be an experiment you're willing to try.

After tomorrow's paycheck, I'll be done with my Roth for 2014. Which is great bc they are looking to sell company. No idea what happens then. But I was asked to stay until May (2 let go yesterday)

UPDATE
I'm finally getting around to updating. I did quit my job. My last day was March 31st. I don't miss it at all but it does feel weird knowing that I don't have an income. It was absolutely the right choice for me. I will probably post again with more information about how it is going. For now I want to get my update posted.
