Or is it? A warning shot in FL gets 20 years. Hard for me to believe if some random joe shoots and injures someone all they get is probation. abcnews.go.com/Weird/wireStory/reno-man-probation-golf-shooting-21221314 Jeff Fleming, 53, was put on probation for up to five years in Washoe County District Court. He had faced as much as 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine after he earlier pleaded guilty to a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon. The unidentified golfer who struck Fleming's house took a drop and was attempting to play his next shot on the Lakeridge Golf Course in September 2012 when Fleming fired a shotgun at him. The golfer, who was playing with a friend, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries to an arm and both legs. Fleming's attorney, Larry Dunn, said Friday his client was just waking up when the stray golf ball shattered his bedroom window and sprayed him with glass shards. Fleming shot at the golfer from some 50 yards away in an attempt to scare him, not injure him, Dunn said. Haven't these golf course yahoos heard of unbreakable windows?

I'll read the link later. No surprise "justice" and punishment varies. Really if you are planning to scare someone you don't aim at them.
Unless of course you are an excellent shot and know how to shoot close but not actually hit someone.

maybe the golf course wasn't there when the house was built? The course was built ìn 1969. The guy had been living there for the past ten years. Move adjacent to a golf course or airport after they are built and you must put up with errant golf balls or jet noise. LakeRidge Golf Course

Yeah, I don't understand why people live ON a golf course and then get mad at stray golf balls. Does not make sense. One of the golf courses DH plays at regularly has several homes on it. Lots of homeowners sit out on their backyard decks just evil-eyeing the golfers. So, what, you want to live on a "for show only" golf course?! Then they'd complain that it wasn't maintained or used and they'd "lose" the added value it gives their property.
Now I need to read the actual story...

Sounds like he made a plea deal...I don't like them, either, but I'm told it saves money. As the lefty's are prone to saying: why would we want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting this guy in prison for 10 years?

Righties usually say that when pressing for the death penalty for a non-capital offense. Kill him/her they say.

Plenty of room for violent felons if you just let out all of the non-violent drug offenders.

What if some kid (or adult) hits a baseball through your window and you blast them with a 'warning shot'? Same thing. I think most of us would go straight to jail. No way it ends up with probation.
Just hope Zimmerman doesn't buy a house on a golf course if he wins his big lawsuit
