Made from a re-cycled Wooden Circular Cable Spool. All you need is a bit of sandpaper, elbow grease, and some paint or stain:

One of those spools used to be my coffee table back when my living room furniture consisted of lawn furniture.

We used to use those for wheelchairs when we played! Still got the splinters in my hiney. Dad worked for the Electric Company so he'd bring stuff home all the time. He made our grill out of an old fuse box.

Our is a foot stool in the rural house. Been there for years.
Book cases were made out of cinder blocks and 1" x 12".

Yup. And milk crates were bookcases. Milk crates with planks were bigger bookcases. Good times indeed! Nice idea with the cable spool though. That would work in a "Grown Up" house. LOL! Or, 4X4s with cinder blocks.

I actually still have foil wrapped bricks in my basement from my "bookcases." Not sure why they were moved to this house, but I find them amusing and I plan on offering them to my kids when they move out.
