Maid. I like to cook, the only frustrating thing about it is the timing. I never know when BS is going to be home. Grocery shopping is not bad-gets me out of the house. BS does the yard work, and the massages. Laundry isn't as bad as cleaning. I've got the kids to put it away (mostly).

You get to pick *1* person to help you with your life free of charge (this is YM, after all). Who do you need MOST? 1. Chef. Will cook dinner every night and on the weekends. Enough for leftovers for lunch the next day, too. Cleans up after themselves. 2. Maid. Cleans, dusts, mops, and gets rid of the dust bunnies. Does windows and that stuff on the roof of the microwave. 3. Yard Guy (Gal). Snow shoveling, leaf raking, pool maintenance, lawn mowing, whatever. Wears little to no clothing in good weather. 4. Personal assistant. Grocery shopping, bill paying, takes dogs to vet, etc. 5. Personal spa person. Gives back rubs, manicures, and blow outs anytime. 6. Laundry helper. Washes, dries, folds, irons, and takes stuff to the dry cleaner. Also sews on missing buttons and hems jeans (original hem, of course). YOU ONLY GET TO PICK ONE!!!! __________________________________________________________________________________________ Me: I need the personal assistant. I need someone to do all those little annoying tasks that I never seem to have time to do... and time IS money. Personal spa!!!

Good question. IT's a toss up between the chef and the personal assistant.
I'll eat whatever you put in front of me, put I'm anal about other stuff. If the assistant could read my mind, I'd probably go with that. If I had to explain what I needed done, it's just easier to do it myself.
I think i'll go with the chef.
And a personal trainer.

Maid. That is easy. I enjoy cooking and yardwork and paying the bills, taking dogs to vet, etc. DH takes care of the house maintenance.
But we both dislike housework and it tends to be neglected until it bothers one of us....

Chef.
I am not a fan of cooking, especially when it's this constant chore every day. unrelentless! We are a slave to our bodies....
I love doing the laundry.
And I have my routines down to an art for housecleaning so I spend very little time on it. And besides, I have a lady who comes in every two weeks for the big chores.
I'm thinking perhaps second on the list would be personal assistant, but I don't have that many things to do.
I would love a mentor/coach though. Someone to help me direct my life.

I'm torn between the maid and the personal spa.
I like to cook... i don't have a yard... laundry for two isn't horrible and I do most of my errands once a week.
hell... i'm going personal spa.

I'd pick the maid. I'm too finicky for a chef, laundry doesn't bother me, I already pay someone to cut the grass and occasionally pay someone to shovel snow.
Phoenix - it's a replicator. - I'm personally waiting for the transporter to be invented - I'd do lots of traveling via transporter.
I had the wrong idea when I saw the thread title - I thought it was going to be a list of YM helpers - like Patstab to teach you how to sew or just about any - other homey talent or 2Kids - to be your own personal real estate mentor - Cawaiu as personal trainer, etc.

chef. maids are too cheap, comparatively. why waste a freebee on that? Because I cook better than most chefs and I know how to make tasty, healthy food (unlike many chefs.) Plus, I don't really mind cooking all that much.
Scrubbing the house on the other hand, I hate with a burning passion.

Maid.
Chef would be okay, but I'm a picky eater - and they would have to do the grocery shopping too.
Personal spa person - I could really use that. I feel like I'm looking drab and if someone could do my hair and make-up flawlessly each day, that would be great. But I can't look too overdone and the make-up can't make me break out.
I am really needy.

A maid would be nice but I would have to go with a Chef since I hate cooking and do as little of it as possible.

I want a chef. I don't even mind doing the shopping, but the cooking and meal planning take up so much time. I must do it wrong, because I don't make anything that takes less than an hour. It is daily and never ending. Oh and to not have the "What's for dinner" conversation ever again. That would be so great.

Why so uneven? 1 is about 3 hours/day 2 is 3 hours a week3 is 2 hours/week 4 is 5-10 hours week 5 - IS THIS HAPPENING DAILY ??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 about 10 hours/week - but not if they take the lot to the laundromat with multiple machines. 1 is my least fav (**ETA least fav to have help with) - but the most help time-wise, so I would likely go with that due to the time. I wish I knew how to keep my house clean in just 3 hours a week.

I want a maid. I hate cleaning and DH seldom does it. He does do the laundry most of the time - even folds everything since he's retired military and he's very anal about how everything is folded. The house can sometimes look really messy but I always clean the bathrooms every few days.
I don't mind cooking except sometimes I get tired of the meal planning and we just grab something quick.

Wha I spend about 30 min - 1 hr a day cooking. I'm very efficient, good chopper, etc. Get recipes that don't take long. I don't clean much or do much yard work, so that's almost 0 to me but could be an hour a day. I dunno. I think most of these things are around an hour a day in my life. Or should be anyways lol.

Maid for sure. I HATE doing windows. I give them a hosing about twice a year when I can't see out of them any more.

I hate cooking. But it's not so much the cooking as the planning/shopping and then cooking during the Crazy Hours when kids are insane and there's homework to do. Honestly I'd rather not eat than go through all that. Unfortunately DH and the kids don't agree.

I guess I need to go look at my windows. I've cleaned the inside (on some of them when I've noticed they looked dirty) but I've never cleaned the outside.

I would love to have most of the things listed. But the yard person probably wins out as my main pick. I'm thinking of getting one for the summer, but haven't totally been able to justify it to myself. I do a horrible job with my yard and it needs major work to even get to the presentable stage. I really don't care about it myself, but I feel kinda guilty because the neighbors are all retired and have nothing to do other than tinker around their yards.
Chef-would be awesome, but I'm a simple person. I'm happy enough with soup, salad, sandwiches, cereal, pancakes, etc. for dinner, so while it would be nice it would probably be wasted on someone like me.
Maid-Almost made it into the first choice spot. But I just tell myself that the dust bunnies are pets and are helping my immune system and the dirty windows keep stalkers from seeing in or something.
Personal assistant-I actually like paying bills and taking care of that type of stuff, and I couldn't outsource the care of my fur faces to anyone else. This previously would have won for the grocery shopping, but I've been buying groceries online and having them delivered or picking them up once a week, so this is now a lot easier than it used to be.
I dislike laundry, but it's not my most hated chore, and the spa person would probably be lost on me also.

YOU ONLY GET TO PICK ONE!!!! where's the option where I get someone to deal with the BS that is my full time job these days? 1. cooking is my sanctuary. no way I'm giving that up. 2. unlike Doxie, I am actually OCD. I dust blinds and baseboards regularly. not paying someone to do a worse job that I can do a little at a time. 3. I live in a condo, not responsible for this. woot! 4. I don't "huge shop" more than once a quarter, I pick up whatever's missing on the dinner menu on my way home. don't really need an assistant 5. the back rubs would be nice, but....nicer than having a drone at the office 40h a week? no 6. another calming chore. I know, I'm weird.

I'd want the maid. But not a "3 hour a week" maid. A full-time maid of my very own. I wouldn't even care if she ate crackers in my bed if she changed the sheets after!

I don't mind cooking. Husband does the yard. I am too much of ummm.....control person to let anyone shop for me or pay my bills - I would be checking up on them every two seconds. I don't like spa stuff. Laundry takes me 30 seconds to do - all our things are washable - no dry cleaning stuff. Not to mention, kids think doing laundry is the funnest thing ever, so I let them do it.

I'll take #1 - Personal Chef. As much as I love to cook/bake, it takes up so much time (unless you're opening a can - which isn't a meal or recipe, to me).
I like to cook from scratch, but if someone else could do it to free me up to do other things on that list, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Actually i want to add a #7 to this list: A GOOD investment advisor.
That should allow me to make enough $$ on investments to hire any of the 1-6 I want/need. However, I don't want or need #1 (chef). I LIKE to cook and #2 (maid) gets to do the clean up.

Well, if we're adding choices to the fantasy-land poll. I will take a chauffeur. I can't wait to buy myself a Google Prius and have it drive me around everywhere. I'm a God awful driver, so it will serve the dual purpose of giving me more time to do things in the car and protecting the general public. You're welcome.
