Supposebly (I have such a hard time spelling it that way!) and literally remind me of two women I work with. The one who says supposebly repeatedly is very smart - she just can't say that word correctly. I actually told her once that there is no "b" in supposedly - I think it took her all of two days to go back to saying supposebly.
I have one coworker who could never talk again if the use of the word literally was banned, like literally.

Just sayin' makes me want to hurt people. WHAT ARE YOU JUST SAYING?!?!?! Like, literally, I'm sayin' nuthin'. Just sayin'.... One more please. "Dude." Like....dude.....how's it hangin'? Dude! Did you see that? It was legit! I think some people work quite hard to sound stupid. Now for me? It just comes naturally. Just sayin'....

No, "dude" is okay.
I use "dude" every once in a while when I get really excited. This is okay, because I use it, okay?

Dude is okay. It's like fuck, it's a word that has different meanings dependent on how it's used.

"Dude" is NOT ok, Dudes! It makes a person sound like a brain damaged burn-out from the 60s!
I'm protesting the decision. Just sayin'...

I insist we ban the word "basically". C'mon people.....it is not basically cold outside. It's not basically the difference between this or that...it is either a this or it's a that, but it's not basically a this or that.
And please.....please please, can we have the death of the Valley Girl and get rid of the word "like". Or how about the phrase " you know what I mean", I was like...you weren't like "like"
Doesn't anyone use correct English or spelling? Do they not teach these things in school anymore?

And speaking of words...library is spelled library and pronounced as lie-brarry. It is not liberry. The word wash is not pronounced warsh (contrary to what Midwesterners say, especially people from Nebraska). There is no R in wash. It is not Warshington state nor is it Warshington DC.
And of course, my personal favorite...can I axe you a question? No, you may not, you may ask me a question.

Ok, I humbly confess. I referred to the "green dude" when we were talking about Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Sometimes I am just so hip that the dudes and dudettes in my class literally open their mouths in legit belief. It's all groovy. Peace out!

And of course, my personal favorite...can I axe you a question? No, you may not, you may ask me a question. I have someone who always uses axe just to irritate me. I'm from the rural frozen north, no you may not axe anything other than my woodpile. Feel free to ask questions about where you should stack the wood that was axed.

We ship the extra letter from our cah out west where it gets recycled into another word that doesn't need it. Hence, Warshington. Walla!

I want to ban the word "really". Especially when teens use it. Or the word "like"
Like Really? I like typed this message out, and I was like thinking - like should I really say that? Like I'm not like really sure - but like really?

That's just stupid. The same word can not have opposite meanings. Who the hell thinks the solution is to change the meaning of the word?

Take a step into the 21st Century.
I don't think that Merriam Webster were trying to change the meaning of the word, but were providing a more modernized (21st Century) alternate (second)meaning of the word.
It's not the first word to have more than one meaning.

But generally it's not the opposite of the first meaning...
