Danvers High School teen raped Mass. math teacher before killing her: prosecutors Philip Chism, 14, has been indicted. The 14-year-old is charged as an adult with murder in the death of Massachusetts math teacher Colleen Ritzer. He raped and killed her in a school bathroom before dumping the body in woods behind Danvers High School, cops say. The 14-year-old accused of murdering his young math teacher at Danvers High School allegedly raped 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer before killing her, prosecutors said Thursday in outlining a first-degree murder indictment against Philip D. Chism. Chism, a top junior varsity soccer player at the Massachusetts school, allegedly attacked Ritzer after she asked him to stay after school in October to prep for an upcoming test. The teen is accused of stabbing Ritzer to death in a school bathroom before dumping her body in a patch of woods behind the school. I don't know what justice is in this case.
No words, nothing.

Horrible things do happen in this world. Always have, always will. We have developed great ways to make sure that the entire world is now aware of each such occurrence. Wonder what we gain by that.

I'm wondering what the OP wants us to say about this. I think we all agree this is horrible.

I understand its a current event. I'm not that dumb. I'm not sure what were supposed to,discuss about it. If the post was about whether he should be tried as an adult, or should he be subject to the death penalty, that gives us something to discuss.

I think everyone already knew who he was. His face was plastered everywhere. I assume from your comment, you want to make it about race, or at least the op is supposedly doing it. My question is, why did she ask him to stay over after school, and did she have a history of having students stay over after hours? And how DID they wind up in a restroom together? Did they go together willingly, or was she forced physically into the restroom? Could this be another case of sexual domination by a teacher over a student? Of course stealing her phone and credit cards does kind of set a tone of who was the guilty party in the crime. Am I profiling? If so, who am I profiling? Don't wonder too hard.

Have you given any thought to the fact the student might have been kept for detention on a disciplinary action, and the teacher left the classroom or study-hall to use the restroom? And that student then left that classroom or study-hall to follow her, entering the restroom after her to commit the deed?

And that student then left that classroom or study-hall to follow her, entering the restroom after her to commit the deed? The article stated the teacher asked him to stay over after school to prep for an upcoming test (maybe a quiz. I forget) Of course I would assume we have to take the pupil's word on that as she is not here to tell her story. I was only trying to give Tenn a scenario, that the op who started the thread was not making a racial statement here, as that is how Tenn presented it to the members here. I am not assigning guilt to either party. We do have a dead teacher that was raped according to police, and a person that had personal belongings of the deceased in his possession.

Well, last week I found out that George Zimmerman got into a domestic dispute with his girlfriend while watching the network news, but last night there was no coverage of this atrocity. Thank god there were no guns involved as this did happen in a school with children.

So sad. Not only for the deceased and her family and friends, but for the young man whose life is now ruined and his family. Just sad.

My first thoughts are for the families involved and everyone in the community.
My next thoughts are when did this evil first come to be? Is it genetic? Taught? Drugs?

Massachusetts doesn't have the death penalty as an option, as far as I know.

mtman said: "This animal is what the death penalty was designed for....Hope they use it." If you knew anything about the death penalty in the U.S. (and it appears you don't), you would know SCOTUS ruled (Roper v. Simmons) it is unconstitutional to impose capital punishment for crimes committed while under 18 years of age.

Thanks, chiver. I thought that was right. Seems to me it came up in another case fairly recently. Boston bombers, perhaps?

Federal charges are a whole different ballgame. I could see that happening with the Boston marathon mess, but not for this kid.

Well, last week I found out that George Zimmerman got into a domestic dispute with his girlfriend while watching the network news, ... I wonder the same for all current coverage of George Zimmerman. Probably because this was just a horrific crime, noteworthy because it was a young student killing a teacher and as far as I know he hasn't pled self-defense. GZ will continue to make the news as half the country thinks he got away with murder and see mounting evidence they were right about him.
