Did you know that on NOvember 20, the Native American Code Talkers who served in WWII got Congressional Medals?
I did not see any coverage in the media. I found out from FB from a friend who works in DC in Indian Affairs.
Now these are the people our country should be honoring.

You should read up on the history of this group. There was a good article on them in the Smithsonian you should be able to find at your library.

Don't remember which site it was on but it was one of the big media sites - either NBC, CBS, ABC or CNN.

Surprisingly, I DID know about this as our local newspaper had an article about it. I say "surprisingly" because the local paper here is more than a little disappointing most of the time...

I didn't know that. This is the type of thing that deserves publicity.

I didn't know that. This is the type of thing that deserves publicity. The Presidential Medal Of Freedom awards were awarded the same day as the Congressional Medals were awarded. One event overshadowed the other.
I read something interesting the other day how some events trump other important events in news reporting.
At 4:45 am on November 23, 1963, just hours after JFK had been assassinated, a fire broke out at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Fitchville Ohio, killing 63 residents.
Normally a fire that severe and a death count of that magnitude would have made the front page news across the country. But because the morning news on November 23 was about the JFK assassination, and for many weeks after, few people in the country even knew about the fire and death toll.
