If I want to travel to either Vero Beach or Jensen Beach, which is the nearest major airport? Or easiest / most pleasant airport experience, even if further away?
Thanks!

I'd think it would be Palm Beach International, mollyanna. I imagine that airport is a lot easier to deal with than the one in Orlando.

It would be Palm Beach, but it's more expensive to fly in and out of, has fewer flights and has fewer direct flights than Orlando.
Oh, and you hafta stop in and say hi to me when you are here!!!!!!!

This house fixin' up will be done by Christmas come hell or high water! <<< Off to go paint some upstairs before I go to bed. Thanks for the answers (and invite, Nancy ) My dad's brother lives in Jensen Beach. I am a Disney Vacation Club member, and they have a resort in Vero Beach. I'm trying to talk my dad into going down to see his brother, because my uncle can no longer travel (stroke) and they haven't seen each other for several years. They're both well into their 80s. Dad used to love to travel; he worked as an airline navigator for many years. Now he's a homebody. I just have to gradually get him used to the idea, and maybe it'll happen.

If you're doing DVC - definitely look into any Disney transportation. I honestly don't know if the Vero Beach club has any, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had something like what they have for Disney World/Disneyland.

It's possible they have the Magical Express service between the airport and the resort; I'll check it out.

Jensen Beach is about 40 minutes north of me, so you are pretty close. I like it up there; I like the beaches up there, because there isn't much on them - except beach.

I've heard horror stories about the Orlando airport, but I haven't found it to be that bad. yes, there are a higher number that average of families and unruly children there (me included) but it's not horrible.

I've used Orlando one time (it was to get to Portland, Oregon nonstop; PBIA had nothing with fewer than 2 stops). No problem with it. But it's a two-plus hour drive to Jensen Beach from Orlando International. PBIA is under an hour. You can likely get a nonstop to Orlando from many places. Nonstops from most places are very unlikely to PBIA. Orlando will almost always be a cheaper flight than PBIA. If you get into PBIA and get stuck for a ride, I can come rescue you. Would that not be worth it?

Seriously, if it happens, let me know. Even if it doesn't let me know when you're coming. I've met a few EE'ers, and two of them are still active on the board. They can vouch for the fact that I am reasonably normal and not an ax murderer or anything.

Innocent bystander here, saying hello and offering another option: Fort Lauderdale is an hour and a half away from Jensen Beach, relative easy airport to get in and out of, and Southworst flies direct there from many locations. I go to the Florida Keys in January, flying in and out of Lauderdale, easier and cheaper than Miami International. Carry on, fellow snowbirds .....

Ummm....how many have you met vs the two left on the board? Maybe that's what happened to Miss Rigby Of the three I met, Miss Rigby was one. She left, but about a year passed between the time we met (September, 2012) and the time she left. Something happened on a thread here that got her upset. I posted on that particular thread, but since she has yet to respond to my emails or Skype, I have no clue what really happened. The other two are Cheesey (met several times when she lived in Florida; she is in Texas working right now), and Sugilite (met when I went to Toronto in April). Taz and I hope to meet soon; tentatively, we should meet up in early January.

Yes, I remember that both you and Miss R. posted nice things about your meeting. I was just kidding.
