Every time I got to my MILs she asks me to bring a fruit tray. I can't think of much to change that up. Maybe I will just do mangos, figs and dates. That'll show her. Anyone ever do anything cool with a fruit tray?

My mom would cut a watermelon into a basket and fill it up with cut fruit, but I think that was more of a fruit salad.

I like to take a multi section tray, fill one with small pieces of pound cake, most sections with berries and pineapples, etc.. one with fruit dip and one with shaved chocolate.... More dessert-y than just fruit, but it always disappears.

I love carving watermellons into nifty bowls and have done that for a few parties. It's always a big hit. I mix yogurt, cream cheese, lemon zest, and sugar into a dip to go with it. But, it's not really watermelon season. Alternatively, you could carve up a pumpkin and fill it with fruit for something a little more seasonal.

This was more for "the kids", but when I had to bring a fruit tray to my son's class, I made mini fruit kabobs by putting the fruit on toothpicks. Something about kids and sticks.

There are those kabobs going around facebook with grapes and strawberries made to look like Santa heads!

Yummy fruit dips... And fruit kabobs. Can you add some things that pair with fruits? cheese or nuts or meat?
