I think not tipping by itself is pretty shitty (assuming the service was adequate)- add a note about not tipping unrelated to the service and they sink to an even lower level of loser.

They didn't actually say gay did they?  Maybe they resent low income workers for not trying hard enough in life and making poor decisions.

I think, SL, that how parents choose to interact with their children regardless of what the reason was, and I realize there are some reasons that are more acceptable to some posters than others, that that is the parents business. Would I do it if my child was gay? No, but that's me. I'm sure other posters would be amazed at why I would so it if I did do it and I almost did at one time. Just because someone doesn't embrace the gay culture does not make them pigs.

Btw, if my server offended me, I'd ask to be sat in another section. I did one time because not only did my server not look clean, she was also sick. She may have had allergies but I wasn't taking the chance.

Well, I used to own a cafe, and I also used to live in Vegas and spend a lot of time at the blackjack table. They have a saying in Vegas. If you don't tip for the first free drink at the table, shame on you. If you don't tip for the second drink brought to the table, maybe you are drunk. If you order a third free drink to be brought to the table, you would be very wise not to drink it....

I would give that advice to the diner in question.

Are you saying she wasn't gay? I'm guessing the lesbian mullet gave her away :-p.

I can't tell who is gay or not unless it is a very butch female or a very feminine guy. Odds are pretty great that a woman who dresses and acts like a man is a lesbian (in my experience).

The family is disputing it and saying that they did leave a tip. Supposedly they have a copy from the register that shows an $18 tip and their VISA statement that also shows an $18 tip. They are saying that if anyone wrote that on the empty copy that it wasn't them.
