It is almost 70 here right now, but supposed to drop into the mid 20s tonight. So, on tap for us tomorrow is:
Stew in the slow cooker (making double batch) and off to the store shortly for some yummy rolls of some sort.
If it's cold at your house, what's on the menu for tonight and tomorrow?

It's cold, but it's just another day.

We were 80 yesterday and 78 today. 78 tomorrow.
Dinner tonight was roast, corn and a nice salad. Oh, and sourdough garlic bread. (yum)

To conserve heating oil/money, we set our thermostat at 62 degrees, so when it's cold outside, sometimes I like to warm up the kitchen by roasting and baking things. It's pretty nippy here in CT already... we're expecting flurries tonight, they should clear out by noon. Tomorrow afternoon, I'll be roasting a whole chicken, stuffed; I chopped and sautéed/sweated the onions and celery tonight, so I can throw the stuffing together quickly tomorrow. In the dogdays of summer, I can go weeks without using the oven, but when cold weather comes I make up for it. I made bread twice last week.

Our bottom dropped out over night. 36º here right now and supposed to be even colder tomorrow morning....and it's windy! So it's making it feel like it is in the 20's! We keep our thermostat at 77º year round. One of our electrical co-op guys told me long ago that it comes out a bit cheaper to keep it at the same level cause then the furnace/ac doesn't have to work harder to either cool down the furniture or heat it up. And I swore years ago that as long as I could afford it, I was never again going to be too hot or too cold!

It got down to about 25 here last night. The stew was yummy and thank goodness for crockpots as it was ready when we finally got home late yesterday afternoon.
I'm also really happy to have natural gas heat once again. Those heat pumps maybe energy efficient, but at temps below about 35 they don't work for beans.
