Yes, the shooter over reacted. Not that it makes it right, but I can understand how and why it could happen, especially when people hear stories like the following.
2004, young Bridget Kelly, first grade school teacher, heard a bang at her front door one night. She peered through her door's peep hole and saw a man making a run for it. He slammed into it and even though she had two dead bolt locks on it, he managed to bust the door in. He forced her at gun point to drive him to an ATM, where he had her draw out 200 dollars. He then drove her to an empty field, raped her and shot her 3 times in the back and left her for dead.
How different would things have been had Bridget met the pounding at her door with a gun.

I expect if she was charging into the door trying to break it down that will come out at the trial. It is just good that he was charged and there will be a trial.

I'm sure she wasn't charging at the door, but that wasn't my point, which was that people are rightfully scared, and I can see how this could happen.

If I heard banging on my door in the middle of the night, I would get my gun, call the police, wait inside the house, and if, and only if, the door banger broke through the doors would I shoot to kill. I do live ìn an area where police respond quickly and would probably do the same if I lived in a rural area where police response may take longer. You wait until and if the person enters your home.

From what police said he shot her through a locked screen door after he had opened the main door- and there was no evidence of an attempt to break in- hence the murder charge.
Not really going to help his upcoming self-defense angle that he made statements to the police that it was an accidental discharge- better pick which way he is going to go- and since self-defense is not going to fly might as well stick with the original and hope for involuntary manslaughter.
You have to admit there is a real problem in this country with what some people consider reasonable when it comes to responding to perceived threats with gunfire. As was the rule forever until a while back in some places- make sure you shoot them in the house.

www.ibtimes.com/who-theodore-wafer-all-about-detroit-man-who-shot-killed-renisha-mcbride-1473142 Speaking to MailOnline, Wafer’s ex-girlfriend – who didn’t want to be identified – claimed he had a bad temper and was a heavy drinker. But she did defend him against allegations that the shooting was racially motivated Nope- won't have any idea if this guy had booze or weed in his system but I expect we will hear all about the girl's. Why is it relevant if the victim had been drinking but not the person that killed them? Never understood that one. Another attack the victim strategy in the works.

What ever happened to house door peep holes to see who ìs outside knocking on it without having to actually open the door?

You mean the mild mannered, wouldn't hurt a fly GZ? It's a conspiracy against George I tells ya. Does this surprise anyone at all? It was obvious from the start of it the guy was a hot head. Run away woman! Jeckyll and Hyde, and Hyde is armed.
