Paul Krugman is an imbecile. He may actually be the least informed person on the planet.

And nevermind "enrollment", give us the data on "policies in force". They can't. Because it's over. This things is on the books, but it is functionally dead.

Paul once again going ad hominem on someone much more intelligent and accomplished than he is. There is a word to describe that.

And all of this hullabaloo thanks to leaving insurance companies in charge of 'healthcare reform'. And we need these companies involved why again?

So the wackoids can pretend it's socialism. Although that doesn't make any sense does it.

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of Krugman's failed track record as an economic and policy prognosticator: www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/04/12/krugman-bad-prediction/Paul Krugman is worse than me with the political predictions, the only substantive difference being that unlike me he rarely acknowledges he's wrong, and doesn't seem interested in quitting.

AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP said: "Paul Krugman is worse than me with the political predictions, ..." Or was it PBP and his ilk who heard only what they wanted to hear. From an October 25, 2012 article: "Krugman says that “by inclination” he trusts the nerds who are predicting an Obama win, but I suspect that “inclination” is born out of the fact that they are saying what he wants to hear." Paul Krugman Predicts
Seems Krugman's ability to predict elections is far, far superior than pbp's ability.

Someone it a nerve
Paul Krugman- one of the top economists in the world and winner of a Nobel Prize.
PBP- winner of the pro-boards trophy for most post and run bullshit topics.

Come on, guys. Give Paul a break. After all, he just said, I think we should encourage him in that endeavor, not continue to pile on.

Krugman is right. we DO need death panels. but death panels are not "government deciding over life and death", no matter what Sarah Palin might say. what everyone calls "death panels" are ADVISORY in nature. they don't decide a damned thing. and they are crucial. we have to get real about end of life care. giving an 83 year old man a quadruple bypass (at a cost of $360000) is a bad use of taxpayer money.

No one said Krugman was perfect or some undenialble genius. Just that he was way smarter and vastly more accomplished than the guy the went ad hominem on him. This vaunted poster even went back 32 years to find fault. It was way less than that this same poster was spreading mulch part time in Chitown while his wife supported him.

Personal comments are the signal that dondub has finally lost the argument, and has nothing left. If he stops, what sign will I have that he's finally given up trying to make a point because he doesn't have one?

www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-0701-turley-obamacare-subsidy-halbig-20140701-story.html
This is the case that I think will really put the cat among the pigeons.
You hear a number of Obamacare defenders cautiously getting their crowing voices limbered up now, because apparently the law "works" and "is popular" and so on...
... but of course much of that, to the extent it's true, is so because the law is not being applied. Chief culprit, arguably, is the subsidy scheme which disguises the true costs of the boondoggle for many of its victims. Halbig examines the legitimacy of the penalty-and-subsidy scheme as authorized by PPACA for states that chose not to set up exchanges, and I really think a plain reading of the statute makes an inarguable case for the prosecution on that one. But then, I thought there was no way that the individual mandate could be construed as a tax. Watch this space...

mmhmm,
I guess I should be duly chastised. But when Paul goes ad hominem on a non board member, such as his despicable comments about Krugman, he opens himself up for comparative analysis. I supplied it. Krugman is simply vastly more successful, educated, and vital. Sorry I pointed out the discrepancy versus the one that attacked him so vehemently.

Absolutely essential- just as private insurance operates- a single payer type insurance scheme would have to set limits.
I see no reason at all why in such a system people would not be free to pay cash or buy insurance for things not covered under a national plan. That's how the legislation usually goes- it outlaws insurance policies that cover what the national plan covers- everything else is free game. I fail to see any problem with that approach.

It's insulting/attacking comments about posters that break our CoC, dondub. Paul Krugman is a public figure and, therefore, is open to criticism - even snarky criticism. Our posters are not open to snarky criticism. If you believe PBP's comments to be incorrect, debate the comments and show them to be incorrect. Do not insult the poster. If you continue to do so, such posts will be removed. mmhmm, Politics moderator

mmhmmm, Is the truth considered insulting? If the truth IS insulting and it concerns one of our posters, dondub, it's against our CoC to post it. You may not like another poster, or you may not like another poster's opinion/stance; however, that does not give you permission to insult that other poster no matter how "true" you may consider your comment to be. Keep your comments confined to the posts, not the posters. I hope I've made that clear as there will be no further discussion of the matter in this thread. If you have further questions, you're welcome to PM them to me, or any admin. mmhmm, Politics Moderator

Who decides if the truth is insulting? I see many posters call out Paul for his 'stuff' without any wrist slapping. It's usually truthful and someone could consider it insulting.
PS: This post was not directed to mmhmmm or anyone in particular. Just an honest query.
