usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/16/20995357-washington-state-approves-rules-for-legal-marijuana-sales?lite The state Liquor Control Board adopted rules that will let 334 retail marijuana stores open across the state after almost 11 months of research and discussion since voters approved the legalization of possession of up to an ounce of pot for recreational use. while the U.S. Justice Department has said it won't sue either state, it has made its opposition to legal sales abundantly clear. As with medical marijuana dispensaries, federal policy is to look the other way. That has raised doubts — still open — that the federal government won't change banking regulations that ban banks from handling proceeds from marijuana sales. State's rights anyone?

the "feds" were told by obama to not enforce the law. they seem to to do that in certain cases. however it is always based on the current admin. i doubt a repub admin will look the other way on marijuana sales. so like obama is enforcing the law where illegals are concerned a tad bit more than the previous admins did and not enforcing the law where weed is concerned. when the repubs get back in the WH it will go back to enforcing the weed laws but not enforcing the immigration laws. we need to get some consistency of federal law enforcement and who and why choices to enforce or not are made. suing the state is one way. the IRS and the DEA are another way the feds get involved. i didn't know about the banks and weed proceeds. so if banks can't get involved, the feds really are still stopping it. but i guess the admin can get some positive play from officially coming out about not enforcing the laws. but the reality is they are still interfering with the sales.
