Cop tosses woman into concrete bench- no charges- what a guy

Pretty ugly video- yet no one in trouble over it....... Go Chicago!

     Officer Michael Hart called her out of the cell, and less than 20 seconds later, the video shows Hart throwing the 110-pound woman back into the cell, launching her face-first into a cement bench.

     The rest of the video shows two other officers assisting her as she bled on the floor.

     Feuerstein says several bones were shattered in her face, requiring reconstructive surgery and a titanium plate in her cheek.


And this guy was not fired because?

That's downright scary!  It's hard to believe the officer hasn't been charged.  I'd sure like to have more information on this.  It sounds completely off the wall (no pun intended)!

That was my thought- this is criminal.  The fact he wasn't fired (or even disciplined as far as I know) is very disturbing.

How horrible!  I live in the land of crooked cops but I have to ask you why you are always bringing up their transgressions and are you also the guy that hates Florida?  Why do you hate Florida?  I also live in Florida and adore it.  But many of our cops suck ass.  No really... I think they really do.

This guy seriously deserves to be charged.  (what Shooby wrote above- coward!)  It ain't easy being part of the thin blue line either though.  A job that I would never want.

Police have a difficult job.  And, part of their job is learning how to deal with and handle intoxicated and/or beligerent people.  Yes, there is are times that they need to use force and restraints.  And, if they need to restrain someone or use force, they are taught to use it in a manner that is safe and effective.  This is over the top ridiculous.  That officer should be arrested for assault and battery.
  If you can't deal with this in a professional way, you don't belong in that position.

What did this have to do with FL?  What I have a problem with is injustice- so when I read stories where people get away with crimes-  either cops or citizens- or people are treated improperly in the system it ticks me off.  The only reason FL was on the radar for a while is that after the GZ incident the media brought to light a lot of other unjust incidents- not my fault- could have been any state.  The stupid SYG law didn't help either- just highlighted a lot more senseless killing that some people will never be held accountable for. 

How else do we get rid of cops like that guy in the video?  If no one says anything and people do not know about it then it gets swept under the rug- no doubt had this video not existed this woman probably wouldn't have a chance in hell of even winning a lawsuit and no one would know what a thug this guy is.  I feel for his wife/girlfriend.

This isn't related to this video, but I have been wondering if the police academy attracts more people that like to abuse power? Or if they become pr*cks because people hassle them all day.

I noticed this month when we went to the firehouse open house at the firestation.  All the firemen were the nicest guys in the world showing you how stuff works and all that.  There was a couple policemen that had a table setup and they were just mean-mugging everyone.  They had a bag of suckers that were sitting out and they weren't even saying hi to the kids that were taking them.

I know a guy that worked as a prison guard in IL and he said that there is major corruption.  

Related to the video, I wouldn't say he purposely pushed her into the concrete bench...I think he just pushed her super hard and she fell forward into the bench.  Not that it makes it ok, but I was thinking (based on the headline) that this guy was going to take her head and slam it right into the bench.

Both the Village of Skokie and the Cook County State’s Attorney have ongoing investigations pending that began when the incident occurred. Those being interviewed in the investigations include the numerous other Skokie police officers, both male and female, who were present at the time and treated Ms. Feuerstein with professionalism and respect. The Village of Skokie values the Skokie Police Department’s high professional standards and reputation and is deeply concerned about this isolated incident. When the investigations have concluded they will be released to the public and further steps will be taken as necessary. The Village of Skokie is committed to reaching a full resolution in this matter.

The Stanford prison experiment- I had a psychology textbook co-written by the guy behind that. Very interesting book. The creepiest thin in it were actual suicide notes and the analysis of the handwriting and of course content.  But the majority of it was a great read- one of my favorite classes in college.  Very interesting experiments and analysis in it from babies to adults.  In my class we had to sign up for at least three experiments- and one stands out- we had around ten people and our objective was to draw a map of the US on a chalkboard as a team from memory.  Should have seen what we came up with


More interesting to me than the prison experiment was the premise of a movie- based on a real story in the US- where a German teacher decides to show his class how fascism can rise. Great film if you can handle subtitles- The Wave.

Oh please VB. Skokie shares a village border with the city of Chicago. Skokie's streets are a continuation of Chicago' street grid along with being served by Chicago's transit authority. Why I imagine Skokie even sells Chicago-style pizza.

  I saw the entire video on Jane Valequez Mitchell.  This officer and a lady officer had this woman out in the corridor for a mug shot.  She was having trouble looking directly into the camera (um, she was drunk, duh!).  Any way, the male officer kept redirecting her.  Then, he grabbed her left arm and turned her towards the holding cell.  He was yanking and pushing her so no doubt she was off balance as they got to the door way.  Then, there was a slight hesitation ( the point where i am supposing he claims resistance).  Well , her arms were BEHIND her.  Then, he shoved her from the back and since her arms were behind her, she was propelled face first into that concrete.
  Now, how ANYONE can defend this in ANY way is absolutely beyond me.  This is clearly wrong.  PERIOD.  No ifs, ands or buts.  And, other officers should want this type of brute kicked off the force.  They weren't out in the field.  She was already arrested.  There were other officers there.  He could have backed her up and instead cuffed her and walked her in that room or ANY number of other things.  He CHOOSE to brutalize this woman.  Yes, she was wrong for her offense.  And, she served her time.  But she didn't deserve to have her face bashed in.
