Did you celebrate? Tax code centennial was Oct 4, 2013. www.cnbc.com/id/10107748316th Amendment, adopted in February 1913. On the evening of Oct. 3, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Revenue Act of 1913 "In 1913, the tax code consisted of 400 pages," said Timothy Nash, a professor of free market economics at Northwood University". By 2012, the tax code was 73,608 pages. Wonder how many more pages in 2013/2014 with all the additional ACA taxes.

It would be wonderful if the tax law was back to 400 or so pages.... all for it....many have tried to do it... we just have one problem.... Congress, which is the opposite of Progress (just look at the news headlines... ask the 800,000 federal employees and soon the 100,000s of thousands of "contractors" who support the government, and the others who will be impacted - and not get back pay or lost revenues, but heck.... your Senators and Congressperson is still getting full pay and full benefits to do nothing.....)
As long as we have 535, mostly self centered (based on current issues), "representatives" making the rules (well, their lobbyist$ write the law$, they ju$t agree with it.... the $ were on purpo$e... $arca$m).... the problem is, who do the 535 represent?
Did I celebrate... no.... but I did I spend time trying to decipher more of the 73,608+ pages while I dealt with those who waited (or were forced to wait) until October to deal with 2012....

The Internal Revenue Service has provided my source of income since the age of 17. Long live the IRS!

I have a framed copy of the very first individual income tax return, with complete instructions, in my office.
It was a total of 4 pages.
Imagine it now...
