I don't wear heels all the time, but I'm going to be upset if my heel wearing days are over.
Your feet will thank you. If the occasion calls for heels, get 2" and wear a long skirt. Problem solved. I quit wearing heels around age 30.

Rock It - here's how you train yourself. Put on your big girl panties, then put on some big girl shoes and walk. Done. Put a bandaid in your bag, just in case. The way your calves and tush will look will thank you!

Pink, it may be the shoe or the brand itself that isn't working for you instead of the height. Not too long ago I ordered footwear from a new brand. Only a moderate heel height. Threw my ankle out and later my back a bit test wearing them inside. I had my chiro confirm it and yes this particular maker is very bad for my foot and back health. Sent them back. So for those of you who love high heels and are willing to wear them go for it. Some women find high heels attractive and some like me find them OK to ugly depending on the shoe. Pain isn't beautiful to me and I wasn't blessed with feet that fit in pointy-toed shoes or did well in 3" or greater heels. A rounded toed boot I can wear is much prettier to me than what's in the OP, but the good thing is we are all entitled to our opinion and choices. There are some women that do wear high heels and tight dresses at my per diem gig, but I have no desire to match them. No desire to match the odd looking footwear some nurses sport either.

Optimist, I hope you're right and it was just that particular shoe. I haven't worn any heels since that night, but I have something coming up in a couple weeks so I need to figure out what's what. I don't even own any flat shoes that aren't casual. Flat shoes aren't even on my radar when I'm buying shoes to wear out. I wear jeans and tennis shoes to work, casual shoes in my everyday wear, and heels when I think I'm looking cute. Flats and low heels just don't feel sexy to me. Call me vain, it's ok.

I don't own flats either because I need arch support. I like to think I've done at least OK as no one has ever said something like 'OMG those shoes with that dress'! We've been trained higher is better for dress up, but some of us need to break with expectations. And male engineers and martial artists are far more likely to say, those look like they hurt instead of those look sexy anyway.
I won't call you vain and the low heel side isn't all that bad IMO. It is much harder of course to find shoes that seem dressy enough with nicer skirts and dresses but it can be done and you can even get compliments on your shoes from other women. But given my recent experience I think you might just need to give away those particular shoes and possibly avoid Chinese laundry as a brand.

I'm ok giving up on Chinese Laundry! I like BCBG heels, but a lot of their shoes are a bit much for my taste. I have a few pair of those and some boots with a heel. They're all comfortable. I also have some by B Makowsky (I don't even know who that is, but they weren't exactly cheap) that I can wear comfortably for hours. What shoes I wear depends on how much standing/walking I think I'll be doing.

Pink - Oh No!! Don't tell me that CL has succumbed to making crappy shoes now I used to love 9West, but their shoes definitely migrated to the cheaply made side, despite their prices, so I stopped wearing them a long time ago. I guess I better go shop at the actual store & try the stupid things on before I buy them then. I wore only high heels from 15 to 35, stilettos included (yeah, I had a hard time wearing flats or sneakers after that) but I never got back problems. My last job was 10+ hours a day on a cement floor, so I was totally into sensible shoes & they had to be closed toes on top of it. I wore out a couple pairs of my favorite comfy flats and couldn't find anything comparable, so I don't actually like the flats I have now. The new place I am working is so upscale, that I need to bump up my style quota a little so I don't look like a total frump. I am actually enjoying this week - it's been boots every day. It looks like the rain & cool weather are continuing, so I'll stick with the boots until I find the stylin shoes that my feet will love Dr Scholls gel pads are quickly becoming my bestest friend!!

Rock It, I'm not sure if it really was the shoes, or if something's wrong with my ankle or something. I haven't had floppy feet since that night, but I haven't worn any heels again either. I'll have to report back when I wear another brand of heels. Those are the only Chinese Laundry shoes I have. This is what I was wearing, it says they're 3.5"

Good luck upping your style quota!
