Those are awesome.... They'll get more comfy as you wear them...just go for it. Absolutely love boots and have a great pair for work....just love the "clomp" as you walk up the corridors.

start wearing them, you'll readjust quickly enough. I have been wearing flats almost exclusively for the last couple years, and have recently started wearing some ridiculously high heels on occasion. I'm not quite to the point of wearing them all day and night like I did fresh out of college, but I'm getting there

Get the right size and width. No matter how cute they are, if you can't get a perfect fit walk away. No pun intended.

I wore heels until I was about 30 then I decided health and comfort were more important than looks so graduated to comfy and nice looking flats, 1" heels for dress if I had to. they are masochistic/sadistic torture devices
DH loves dressing up and when office workers could dress casual he didn't like it. Then I told him my opinion of panty hose, high heels and skirts when trying to get some work done without giving a show. He still thinks office wear should be more formal but that ladies can wear nice pant suits and low shoes. He is making progress in his old age. LOL

ignore the naysayers and just get them.....work up to a full day gradually....maybe wear them to work and change out of them after an hour or 2 the first few times and then gradually wear them longer.....

Those hooker shoes aren't so bad for those who spend most of their time on their backs, but for walking and standing around... they are masochistic/sadistic torture devices. Not only can they cause immediate foot and ankle injuries/problems, they can cause hip and lumbar problems in the long term. My advice to you is to find some other channel for indulging your narcissism. Damn! I bet you get a lot of invites out to parties! And I wish you were out with us last night. I'd have sent you after a certain person to shut them up. Rock It - You rock those heels, girl! I'd start wearing them around the house first to make sure you don't need some practice first or will require band aids. I always wear my new shoes out to dinner where I know there isn't much walking involved until I know they won't cripple me or I won't bust my ass. I LOVE channeling and indulging my narcissism! <---- I also have cool shades to match it!

Practice walking in them. We have a lady at work that walks like a new born calf. Not sexy!

You'll have problems with your feet later It is later I did recently get gel pads to put in all my heeled boots shoes, so have started wearing them again since this makes them more comfortable. Not sure what happens over time, but the ball of my foot sure seems like it has less padding on it than in younger days. My back is decent, but I know I could exercise more to strengthen core muscles. I guess I will ask my fitness DD for some guidance.

Spellbound - clomp I don't want to be clomping around in purty shoes!!!! Later - I am for sure doing better at that. I used to buy only cheap shoes & I think that was my bigger mistake. I am trying to buy better brands and comfort now (size/fit/padding). Chinese Laundry happens to be one of the brands that the shoes seem better stabilized & I don't feel like I'm teetering or tipping in them; but the last pair I bought was probably 9 years ago - they are some of my favorite sandals. patience - wake up in a baaad mood today? Not sure what about a pair of booties is hookerish. POM - great idea to practice at home to make sure I am not being silly at work!! Oh those poor models. They don't even get to wear shoes that fit them so I'm surprised it does not happen more often. single - we're into the season where i can probably wear my rainboots to work. So I could wear shoes for a couple hours and then switch back to the boots. Might work. I saw one lady walking around with no shoes last week. I guess she was wearing a stupid pair and didn't have an alternative.

Is it the height that you're not used to or your feet hurt a while after it? If you're just not used to the height - wear em around the house to get used to them. If it's that you're feet hurt...well my way of dealing is to only wear the hot hurtful shoes to places where I can be drunk before they start to hurt.

Buy the right shoes/boots. IMO, the ones with the narrow, pointy toes are deadly for feet. I don't care how cute they are. You're also better off with a thicker heel. There's a happy medium between clunky and stiletto.
I also take my shoes off as soon as I get home. I'm really a barefoot person underneath it all. If you live in high heels your achilles tendons will tighten up and you'll have a hard time walking without heels; I knew a secretary who said that it was painful to walk barefoot so she always wore high heels. Alternate heels and flats, or spend a lot of time barefoot, so your tendons can flex.

How do you nail the walk? I never did. I think I need to go dig out some of my higher heels & video the walk up and down the hallway to make sure I'm not a clodding cow walker!!! I do notice that I walk heavy in boots . . . so now I am worried. I did not buy the shoes today, I'll just lust after them for a while until I make sure I am not making a spectacle of myself. Just need to update the fashion look for this place. Where I was working before, absolutely no one cared about clothing or styles. I am definitely in a different place now & need to step it up! I am also struggling with having to put on makeup EVERY day!!! First world problem :-)

nail the walk? you just have to get used to walking in the shoes. that's true for any shoe, with any type heel.

I also wear a thinner heel - some of those thicker heels look like grandma shoes (and even when I become a grandma, I'm not wearing grandma shoes).

I had a high heel malfunction a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what happened but my right foot kept flopping to the side. When it first happened, I sat down at the first seat I got to and wondered if I was drunk and didn't realize it lol. I wasn't. I had to sit down for most of the party and I had to walk a couple blocks to the car barefoot. I never walk outside barefoot, but I didn't have much choice that night. It was a new pair of shoes, but the heel wasn't loose or anything and I wear other shoes that are the same height, about 4". They happened to be made by Rock It's favorite, Chinese Laundry. I put them back on the next day to try to figure out what happened, and my leg started hurting after about 5 steps and kept hurting for several days afterward. I've never had anything like that happen before. I don't wear heels all the time, but I'm going to be upset if my heel wearing days are over. Sometimes you just need to wear a nice pair of heels.
You nail the walk by walking in them until it feels normal and comfortable. It's hard to look comfortable when you're not. Walk toward a full length mirror to see what you look like.
