It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I understand your concern about the GKs, Ombud. Any of us would feel the same, I think. I think I've understood DD has three children and is currently pregnant. Are all these kids from the same father, and is that the guy who's living there now? If there are other baby-daddies out there, what are they doing to help support the kids? If the guy who's there now is the father of these kids, is he going to school or doing anything to better his life? How about DD?
It sounds to me like they're already reneging on their promises to help with expenses. BF was $40 short on his commitment and DD didn't have enough to meet her commitment and still have something for her expenses. That's likely to get worse, not better. I think you're about at the point where it's time to cut everybody's losses. If it were me, I'd keep the kids and throw the adults out. Let them learn what they need to learn and come back for the kids when they've learned it. Otherwise, this is just going to deteriorate. The two adults here haven't learned life's most important lessons and they're still not learning them, IMO.

Ombud- first off you are a saint. Seriously not many people would have let them all move in like that (and stay for years). It's easy for us to armchair supervise and tell you what you should say/do about the situation. But we aren't in your shoes. I know you love you grandkids but I really hope that they are understanding what you are sacrificing for them. Especially the 16 year old- he is old enough to know the score and the situation. I really hope they appreciate what you are doing for them.
That being said- I don't think what you described is a temper tantrum. I think it's honestly the least of what they owe you.
Sorry- I don't have much more to add than that.
