Hello! Self-employed freelance (writing); very, very low income; files IRS Schedule C-EZ with an EIN; will file 2012 returns by Oct. 15. Tax preparer gave him NYC-202S UBT Tax Return to sign and send to NYC Dept of Finance, Kingston,NY. Is not this return required only for income of more than 95K? Income on C-EZ is a tiny fraction of 95K. Thanks.

while it may not be required it is advisable to file if the person is truly self employed.... filing starts the clock on the statute of limitaitons running... if they were to be audited by IRS this can be a peice of evidence to show that they were operating in a business like fashion....
why are they not e-filing the UBT.... NYC kind of wants it that way...
