I'm not understanding why a teacher can tell you no to the trip..... if the exchange is tied to the school, any teacher w/rights to approve/deny anything related to the exchange program can approve or deny something like this. as far as I know, it's not a state holiday tomorrow (I work in the private sector) and that's easily a valid reason for denying a day trip w/o a documented educational purpose. it sucks, for sure, but it's probably the reason why. :\ Yeah, that. Instead I'm staying home, doing laundry and hating on the government.

Now we've tacked on ADD, female manchildren (womanchildren? femchildren?), and the most interesting topic of all: SECONDARY RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH COUNTERCYCLICAL PINEWOOD OPTIONS PRICING IN SECULAR BEAR MARKETS! ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/party.gif) This again?!!?! I think we've said all there is to say on that one. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/rofl.gif) OMG, Beer! You are absolutely, freaking, hilarious!!! If you ever quit your day job and take to the road doing stand-up, let me know. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/rofl.gif)

Yep. A thread for the rest of us for whom the dough continues to roll in. Juicy tenderloin steaks marinating in our $300.00 as-seen-on-TV Steak-o-Matic marinating machines. Hours filled with the satisfaction of a job well done while the furloughers (a.k.a. "lowies") run ragged with nervous home budget revamps, wondering how long the standoff will last. A week? A month? A year? Impossible to say. Do we even want the lowies hanging out with us? All that anxiety and nervous energy and... not getting paidness? Maybe I'll buy a $10,000.00 pet African turtle this week and name him "Congress". Congress the turtle. And I'll make a hat for him out of my pay stubs and walk him all around Washington DC on a diamond-studded leash. The sight of him in his cute little hat will undoubtedly bring laughter and merriment to all, most especially the bitter lowies. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/charmed.png) Oop. And the doorbell just rang for my jacuzzi hot tub delivery, hence I need to go cheque on that... I mean "check" on that ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) ... right now. Gonna get me a hot tub fulla money. Ooh, yeah. Gonna get... ... .
They're getting paid retroactively to sit at home. Nobody is losing any income. Many are teeing off right about now, or possibly casting a lure in the water enjoying what may be the last nice week of the summer. Who are the "lowies" now?

Virgil, we are having a week of summer here in NJ for this first week of October. Highs in the low 80's for most of the week.

It's because we're 13 year old boys stuck in "more than 13 year old" female bodies! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) (plus the guys, of course ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/tongue2.png) ) My cover has been blown. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/rofl.gif)

No. I probably should try for a government job. Federal seems to have much less layoffs/furloughs than most of my past employers.
