So I just got my iPhone 5s this past weekend and was testing out the new fingerprint security. This is where you need to place your finger onto the home button to unlock the phone to use.
In theory, this works well. I had my friends and co-workers try to unlock it with their fingers and they couldn't.
However, last night when I was asleep, apparently my girlfriend was able to use my asleep finger to unlock my phone! She was able to gain access to all my texts, all my emails, and all my photos.
So beware that the fingerprint security is flawed on the iPhone 5S and you may want to use the regular 4 digit password lock instead.

Fingerprint security in general is a bad idea for anything that you want to keep secure. When it's expressed in the way it's done in the article below it makes you think. Why would you use something that you can't change (easily) if it's compromised and is something you you leave behind everywhere. www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/09/22/german-hackers-say-theyve-broken-the-iphones-touchid-fingerprint-reader/ It's not that the fingerprint security algorithm is flawed, as you mentioned that it was able to tell that your co-workers weren't able to unlock the phone. The problem is that there is a much easy way to work around the security than there is to break it. The iPhone was actually working perfectly if it was your finger. The human is the flaw in the system in this case, just like social engineering is a major flaw in a lot of security systems.

maybe you should sleep with gloves on? Or maybe get rid of the psychotic girlfriend? Everyone knows how hot the sex is with a psychotic partner... maybe he should just cut his fingers off.... then the sex probably wouldn't be quite as good. Getting stumped isn't all that fun.

I have no idea if it was fake or not (probably fake), but there's a video out there where a guy used his nipple instead of fingerprint to unlock the iPhone. Not that it misread his nipple for his fingerprint, he set it up to "read" his nipple. It was funny.

Hopefully your GF didn't catch you doing anything naughty.

The fingerprint security worked just as it was supposed to... with your fingerprint.

This is my worry with security things that involve my body parts, how hard is it to cut off a finger? Or worse yet, an eyeball scanner.
