My laptop had been acting up. I assumed it was spyware, malware, etc. I took the laptop in for service and the technician said I was getting the trouble from this message board.
Has anyone else had trouble, or found a way to outsmart the bad guys?
I would hate to think I can't visit here anymore because of cyber junk.

I sometimes get the trojan / malware messages from avast (anti-virus). I know this isn't right, but I've ignored them.

No problems, but I use COMODO which stops pretty much everything.

Do you have virus protection on your laptop. If not, did the the tech install protection for you? And curious how tech determined where the virus/malware/trojan horse came from?

I have Norton Antivirus. I don't know how IT people do what they do.

I had just met some people Advanced Tech Support. They have this shtik when they got into your computer and tune it up for about 4 to 6 hours. Cleaning all crap and improving performance. Also they are installing PC MRI antivirus. It traps viruses when they are knocking on the door, before you open and see who it is, so nothing gets by...One payment for life. Web price $499 but I got it for $149 with tune up which is $220 plus $20 monthly and you can have it done whenever you wish.
Microsoft recommend you are tuning up twice per year. So everyone I knew before (best Buy, Staples, dude next door) must take your computer and hold it for days! And they charge accordingly... Here you just sit there and do nothing. I am recommending.

on the old set up we had and I was on XP operating system and I no anti virus protection back then it didn't happen too often - getting viruses on the pc but yea the banner ad was the problem but I got spy doctor and it worked pretty well and I paid for the yearly subscription but then after I got the spy doctor (we) were fighting viruses A LOT!!! I mean A LOT a lot! my tech friend laughed when I told him I think Spy Doctor attracts viruses so (we) could fight them off, to show that the virus protection works.

I had some time this weekend, so I did the live chat with Norton. They did debug the rest of the problems I had and gave me the latest versions of their products. Hopefully this works for a long time. Thanks for giving me the heads up and encouraging me to use what I had already paid for!!

I had my settings set so I don't see the banner ads. In addition to my antivirus, I also have Malwarebytes installed.
Almost every time I run Malwarebytes, something shows up and I assume it is from here before I log on.

Now that you mention it, I have been having a lot of trouble with my computer for the last month or two. About a month ago I ran something a friend told me about at work. I had over 800 hits and they fix the first 50 for free. Then you have to buy it to fix the rest. I didn't, but now I'm wondering if it is this sight. I have had a lot of error 520 messages from here. I too would like to know if it's coming from this site. I was thinking about doing a Malware thing, but I keep forgetting to get the information from work.

It came with a free trial of McAffee and the darn thing warned me about every. single. link. in red or green. When the trial expired I reinstalled the free AVG I've been using for about 10 years with no issues. So far so good. I haven't had any problems and I'm here virtually every day. Take that as you will.

What is up with their ad revenue sponsors - and what are they allowing? You can ask ProBoards administration at the following site: ProBoards Support
